I'm actually always agreed that Conan's interviews are very very scripted and fake. Not as fake as someone like Jimmy Fallon, but still quite bad. Conan gets a pass though because he has a much more natural sense of comedy. He is actually okay at improv, but his interviews have always been overly scripted.

I will also say that part of the reason he gets a pass is he will let people see through the artifice. Jimmy always acts like the random voice impression karaoke thing 0% rehearsed, and totally on the spot and it is stuff like that that makes him even worse. Everything Jimmy does is superscripted and he will not acknowledge this at all.

Conan has a few laughs.

1. The polite and respectful laugh that we all have at work when we are dealing with customers or coworkers.
2. The lean-back, proud laugh. He does that a lot when Sona or Andy gets a quick jab in. Usually just for people he's close with so either an employee of a guest who is a personal friend.
3. The embarrassment laugh. It's the one where he has to hide his face because the joke is so offensive or so ridiculous and he has to be somewhat professional but the joke is too good not to appreciate. See: Bill Burr, Norm, Nicole Byer, etc..

Conan will flat out not laugh at certain jokes too. This is a perfect example of Conan's laughter. He looks annoyed with Handler's fat "joke" to Andy and then proud-friend laughs at Andy's zinger.

Meanwhile Fallon will have the same goofy ass, long winded "laugh" for every single person every single time.

Conan, Fallon, Kimmel, Corden, all of them. I think Corden is the worst.

The only relatable talk show host that didn't look goofy and forced excluding the really old fucks like Letterman or Carson, was Craig Ferguson. Wonder what he's up to nowadays. Gotta google him.

i laugh when things are funny. When theyre not funny I dont laugh. Its pretty simple. Why would someone change their laughs. Thats not how actual laughter works.

I like Conan but yeah of course he has a fake/polite laugh. They all do. He just doesn't have the same hate train as Fallon does because he's overall a better host and funnier comedian.

Honestly having a fake laugh is part of that job.

Ferguson was by far the best, and all his interviews were so human and authentic.

I can not believe it!!!

But yeah they have to. If they didnt try to make their guests look good then they wouldnt have guest.

Conan is my favorite host and my real gripe with him is that he stopped doing clueless game with Aaron and started doing it with celebs. It lost all its charm

Pretty sure there's footage of him before being famous laughing normally. So it's probably just for his schtick and it stuck with him.
