Just did my Goodreads shelves for the past hour. The final section is inexcusable ... it's Watchmen. So everything other than Watchmen

Gotta get it up in that 4-6 range. Will buy a few from this topic

it's a retelling of Romeo and Juliet from Tybalt's perspective, and it takes place in New York during the 80s.

Theyre comic books. Stop trying to dress them up so they seem more mature.

The Boys
Preacher
Locke And Key
The Walking Dead
Outcast
I Kill Giants
Buzzkill
Paper Girls
Lost at Sea
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
East of West

A handful of big ones mixed with some personal favorites. Most of these you'd be better off getting "collections" or trade paperbacks which are 4-6 issues in one, or a big-ass compendium that will have like, 50. The underlined ones are either individual stories or designed to be separate books.

Sandman is an absolute must. It delves into a lot of different shit, but it's mostly about Dream of the Endless, a group of entities which are the literal personification of their aspect.

I'd follow it up with Lucifer. It's sort of a spin-off, but I think it works better as an alternate universe story using some of the same characters. Lucifer creates his own universe to compete with God's, a universe where worship is absolutely forbidden and there is not predestination.

Preacher is fantastic, but it should be noted that it's extremely stupid. It's not stupid in a bad way, mind you, but it might not be to your tastes. A preacher gets an ability he calls the Word of God. Anyone that hears and understands him when he uses it is forced to obey his command. He teams up with his girlfriend and a vampire in order to try and kill God.

Fables gets a little weak in the end, but there are long stretches where it's phenomenal. If you've ever played Telltale's A Wolf Among Us, this is the series that's based on. When an enemy known only as the Adversary begins conquering the worlds of fairy tales, refugees flee into our mundane, non-magical world. They set up shop in NYC, creating a government they call Fabletown. Snow White is the deputy mayor, the Big Bad Wolf is the sherrif, and the Beast starts turning into a monster any time Beauty starts getting mad at him. It's great.

For a lesser known one, Rising Stars is great. A mysterious comet streaks over a small town. It's quickly discovered that any child that was in utero around this comet develops superpowers. The series shows how the world deals with the arrival of superpowered people and how they themselves deal with it. The plot starts off when it's discovered that someone is killing off Specials in ways that indicate inside knowledge (such as knowing you can only kill the guy with invulnerabilty by suffocating him with a plastic bag over his head).
