Damn that's a brutal beginning. I like how it gives that feeling of literally just throwing bodies into the battlefield until the germans couldn't progress like the history books always talk about.

If this is the red army though, why does everyone have an english accent and not a Russian one?

I detest this movie for creating so much fiction about the tactics of the Red Army.

No, the Soviets did not just throw bodies at the Germans until they choked them, and the "one man gets the rifle, one man gets the bullets" thing was bullshit too.

You sure about that?

There were equipment shortage at the beginning of Barbarossa, because of the surprise nature of the attack and the disorganization of the Red Army. By the time of Stalingrad, though, any equipment issues were rare except in cases of ad hoc civilian levies that were raised quickly without proper training.

Same thing with the human wave tactics. More prevalent at the very beginning of the war because there was no other option, then phased out later except in civilian levies and penal battalions where they didn't particularly care whether the men died or not.
