good. giving money to everyone doesn't make any sense. save it for people who are financially impacted by the pandemic and nobody else. fund unemployment coffers instead of giving everyone a check.

I tbink the idea is that it takes too long to figure out who deserves it and who doesn't. To just make sure the people who need it get it quickly, they just hand out a simple payment to everyone

My line of thought as well. Our 2.7k is still in the bank.

And who gets to determine who all deserves a check and who doesn't? What criteria is to be used to decide who gets how much if any?

Giving money to everyone regardless of the financial impact they may or may not have experienced as a result of the pandemic eliminates any uncertainty in the process and ensures that all who actually need the money will get it at the added expense of those not needing it getting it anyways.

reminder that there was enough money in the first stim bill to give every single american more than $6500. from the ultra rich Jeff Bezoses all the way down to the ultra indebted Donald Trumps.

never let them tell you the money isn't there.

i dont get why it's that complicated. if you're on unemployment due to not working or having hours cut then you qualify.

hazard pay is a different thing. i'd support such a notion but hazard pay for front line workers doesn't justify giving everyone who makes under $100k free money.

same criteria for receiving unemployment.

negative. i have not suffered any financial hardships because of covid. i've kept the same salary since this started. lots of my friends are in the same boat. giving people like us money is just stupid.

My hours have been reduced from 40 to about 32 on average, but since I live in a state that does not give partial benefits for reduced hours (as is the case in 22 states), I would not get any money according to your idea since I don't qualify for unemployment benefits.

I'm in a similar situation except I quit it in late June. Wasn't getting paid for OT work and payroll kept getting later and later. Not worth busting my ass for people who weren't even paying me. Small businesses really suck sometimes.

well that's messed up. ideally, you should be given unemployment to make up for those lost hours. my brother (in Ohio) was able to do that when his were cut.

i just have a problem with spending so much money on so many people who don't need it at all when our national debt is constantly skyrocketing.

i think most projections have it at 50 vs 48+2 or 49 vs 49+2. but 51 vs 47+2 isn't by any means impossible

I agree but I seriously doubt it will happen. They barely want to give us $1,200, which is a miniscule amount all things considered.
