You always have to flag someone done and ask them for a cup which invariably leads to them asking what size because they don't know you from the poster on the wall. And some even check the cup size on the order screen.

Or you wind up waiting til you get your food.

Its a shit system.

I have seen a Wendy's have their cups out and available (pre-covid) so I have no idea how they regulate what size cup you get or if they even care

I don't know what fast food places you're going to but almost everywhere I go gives you the cup with your receipt when you order.

This is referring to the automated kiosks where you order your own food

Yup, or when you get a cute cashier and she hands you the cup and you 'accidently' brush her hand with yours.

No wonder Wendys filed for chapter 11. They were giving cups out all willy nilly!

A McDonald's near me installed those self-serve kiosks and initially they actually kept the cups next to the kiosks so you can grab one yourself. That lasted for about 3 or 4 months before I'm guessing too many people were just stealing cups so they moved them behind the counter.
