Democrats: Trump is a fascist!!

Also democrats: Let's pack the court until we get everything we want by default and make the supreme court and arm of the executive branch.

I mean, that's exactly what Trump and the republicans have been doing since 2015.

Then we fix it continually. If the entire plan is let Republicans fuck shit up and do nothing to fix it then what is the point of Democrats?

So your answer to this is to basically create a stupidly large Supreme Court that becomes a mockery? Because that's what will happen. Basically every time a new party takes control they would just add 4 or 5 new seats.

That's literally all they want to do now. Like Donnie said, we're almost freaking tired of winning!

I don't think "literally" means what you think it does..

Is the Supreme Court not a mockery right now because of what Republicans have done in the last 4 years? The process for nominating a justice is already broken.

I dont understand how the idea that Democrats cant balance the court because then Republicans will f*** it up again is supposed to dissuade anyone from wanting the Dems to balance the court.

I'd wait till after the elections to entertain the idea of expanding the court. Depending on how it goes, the GOP might be onboard with the idea too.

Because nobody wants to go down that slippery slope when there are other more effective ways to tackle the problem?

I think the argument tends to be in favor of some sort of systemic overhaul of the SC.

This is fine, but if it done simply to obtain liberal majority, you know the conservatives will do the same when they get the chance. We need more solutions that will last (no, I don't have any suggestions) and not short term solutions.

I'm thinking the best option would be for Democrats to get control of all 3 branches and create legislation to make what the Republicans illegal and then require a supermajority to change said rules.

But the chances of that happening? Not sure.

However, I'm not of the mind that we should just be OK that the Republicans fucked up the system and Democrats should just play by the rules that Republicans don't care about.

Why are you of the thought that people in this topic arguing against packing the court are doing so in good faith and hoping for reforms in the nomination process?
