When PSHome launched the first thing I did was sit down at a chess table and just do scholar's mate over and over again until it worked. I was expecting to be there for hours but it worked on the third guy.

It says right here in Matthew 16:4 "Jesus doth not need a giant Mecha."

When I was younger I played very positional stuff. English Opening 1 c4, loved finachetto bishops. Now I play King's Gambit and Smith Mora and am generally hyper aggressive

Chess seems like the kind of game that you're either naturally a master at or forever mediocre to just slightly above mediocre

I'll follow you progress if you keep it posted, tc. I haven't played in a while, but I'm getting the itch.

One summer when I was around 13 I sat down and played against a chess computer. Id play put the first 10 to 12 moves and restart; mimicing its moves.

After awhile I worked out the best fifteen opening moves that will leave everything protected while locking down the center of the board.

Ive rarely had to do much more than defend using them.

Not sure you'll find too many titled players playing kings gambit outside of bullet or practice games. You may want to stick to more solid openings and learning positional differences if you do want to improve.

I have taken up chess as a hobby the last two years or so after only really playing as a kid. I have improved (gained about 500 rating points) but it's still a very slow process that can be frustrating. I still give away too many pieces to really be that good but am working on it.

Odds are stacked against you pretty hard that you'll be able to get good enough to get titled at all nevermind as a GM. Chess phenoms that are 2000+ ELO as kids and study and dedicate their lives to chess don't make GM. I'm all for playing and improving but suggest you set more realistic of a goal

Goodbye, delusional dream.
