Trump said he was ready to pass a bill of just the stimulus checksm which to me sounded great. Like, everyone can agree on that, and its direct help to the people. So keep debating the other shit, but get the people the checks.

Pelosi said she thought it was a political manuever. So actually, she blocked passing something for just the checks alone. Maybe she thought he would use that as a nexcuse to not do anything else, but it's still bullshit.

Forbes. That's where she turns that idea down, saying she wants to wait for a more comprehensive bill, ie one with everything else, not just the checks for individual citizens. She says this regarding Trump's proposal:

All he has ever wanted in the negotiation is to send out a check with his name printed on it,

So, she basically said she didn't want to agree on the standalone checks because she felt he was doing it as a political maneuver for the election. But if it's going to get cash into the hands of Americans, with no other strings attached, nothing else scummy in the bill, does it matter if it's political or not? I don't care why someone does the right thing, just that they do.

It's the reverse, it seems she didn't want to approve it merely for political reasons, so that he wouldn't get what she felt was undue credit. She politicized it when she could have pushed her entire party to accept that standalone bill, and then move onto negotiations for the rest of the package in a separate bill. She didn't because she didn't want to give Trump a win.

Dude, the Republican party does nothing. Trump has changed maybe 10 actual things of Legislation in the past 4 years.

You're talking about an event that actually makes the GOP have to pass something - if they want to get public support. This is a once in a decade event. I want my representatives to get me all that I can. $1200 is fucking shit - that's less than 35 hours of work pay for me.
