Just started a few months ago, and am about to start Heavensward. This is the first time I've put an extensive amount of time into an MMO, and it's a weird feeling. Like, it's fun and I'm still super addicted to it, but I really feel like playing other stuff too.

FFXIV is especially bad since you can't move on to the next expansion until you've finished the main story as well as every patches main story.

For all WoW's flaws, the recent leveling changes they did are fantastic.

You can buy your way past everything into stormblood I believe at this point. And if you only stick to the main story and normal dungeon content you shouldn't have much trouble difficulty wise.

Although heavensward story is pretty good. So the game should improve in that deparment. And most as classes become alot more enjoyable gameplay wise at lv60.

Afterwhich is stormblood which I personally disliked mostly except for a bit. And then Shadowbringers which was the best expansion so far in my opinion. And the official ending also with wants to come next....lol.

I started playing again at the beginning of the month and yeah.

I played it first when ARR dropped but never finished. Now Im playing and hit the original level cap before I even got to Titan. >_>

I sort of understand the exhaustion thing tho. I was in the middle of Bravely Default and Soul Hackers before I got into this and now... <_<

You're not alone. I played it pretty hardcore til Heavensward and it's first patch. Tried again with my roommate earlier this year and I think I'm halfway through Stormblood

Like I know the games are story driven but when you lock gameplay behind it like raids it really makes it hard to stay hooked.

Rushing through an MMO kinda sucks the fun out of things.

I've been playing 14 on and off for weeks now just doing sidequests and I haven't even delivered that lady's (Kan e Senna?) letter to both of the other cities yet. But I'm having a great time just enjoying the world. Must've logged in well over 30 hours by now.

Does Heavensward+ get any better about the filler arcs?

ARR will have me hooked on the story for a while and then just randomly decide here, go do a bunch of irrelevant nonsense for like, 15 straight quests. >_>

Heavensward is probably the least annoying of ALL of the expacs with its filler.

The pacing is MUCH better in the expansions. ARR hasn't aged too well, though I dunno how it is with the recent changes.

The recent changes have made ARRs patch quests WAAAAY easier. Beating base ARR unlocks flight, and running back and forth doing stupid shit was the biggest issue with ARRs patch quests, flight heavily mitigates the tedium. They also removed 20 quests. I recently took an alt through ARR + Patch quests on a preferred server and it took like 3 days with me skipping every cutscene lol

I'm leveling all the classes equally, as well as doing Beast Tribes and Gold Saucer every day, 30/30 Challenge Logs every week, and every sidequest I come across. I also do stuff with the Free Company. I'm pretty much doing ALL content available.

Also, by "almost starting Heavensward", I mean I'm still doing the patch 2.1 quests, which is still a pretty hefty amount of stuff.

Thats what I'm thinking of doing. It just makes more sense to pace myself, especially for a game with 8 years of content.

That's what I've heard. ARR honestly isn't that interesting, and even post-patch, there's still a lot of fetch quests for the MSQ.

The thing about catching up is that those of us playing since ARR launched had gotten through that stuff over the course of years. No need to rush.
