Well, if Mr. Starkey can't be convinced that there shouldn't be an easy mode, then I guess he can just shut the fuck up, because there is no conversation to be had.

If the game is too difficult for you to play and enjoy, then the game isn't for you. Not every game needs to be made to appeal to every person. Play something else.

Especially for the Souls games, where the entire point of the games is to bang your head against the wall until you learn how to overcome those challenges. An easy mode would defeat the purpose of those games.

I think the people who want an easy mode are rightfully complaining.

They just don't know how bad the games are when they're easy. Once you finally kind of "master" the gameplay and you're doing something like NG+, all of a sudden you're like, "wow, this game is nothing but lackluster graphics, drab environments and 0 storyline".

Which on paper I agree with sure. But I'm not sure what an easy mode has to do with that. Especially since people have beaten games like Dark Souls using all sorts of controllers and dance mats. So the game does seem pretty accessible overall.

I finished Demon's Souls when I was jobless for 8 months. I swore and got pissed off a lot at bullshit deaths, but I had time to put into it and get good.

Now I'm super busy and have real life occupations that require my mental energy, so levels and bosses by design requiring hours of repetition to learn their patterns is a no-no to me. It's true, they aren't that "hard", you just need to have the patience to retry again and again till you know them by heart. Because boss patterns are too fucky to learn quickly (ex. 2 and 3 hit combos look very similar so if you try to go in after a 2hit you get smashed) so you can't just handle it like regular video game bosses. Plus they insist on getting you locked in animations so you can't dodge last second like in Bayonetta (which is hard but not painful)

Ain't nobody got time for dat. It's too bad because the setting is super enticing and interesting, but driving a screwdriver into my urethra for 3h to finallt defeat 1 boss is not my idea of fun.

Oh and when you die you often have to retrace your steps and re-do everything, killing every enemy again. You can't rush through, you have to focus again for every single enemy.

I'm sure it's great when you're accomplishing nothing in your daily life but now all my mental energy is already taken so fuck these and fuck Blasphemous

NG+ in Souls games is not harder than NG. By that point you're overpowered enough to overshadow any increase in damage numbers. At least for the first few cycles. Don't think I've ever played beyond NG+++.
