Someone came up with an absolutely broken list which is just begging to get nerfed because it's kinda a Tier 0 list in a game where everything is relatively poopballs when it comes to grand strategy

Basically: The Space Marine Invader ATV (T5, W8, 3+) has the Biker keyword instead of the Vehicle keyword... this means it can be healed by Apothecaries.

Which means every single turn you can revive a W8 model... and it keeps scaling! You can have a 2nd apothecary to pick up 3 more Invaders and just keep going up and up and up!

A 500pt list can literally be 1 Lt, 1x5 Tacticals, 1xApothecary, 1x3 Invaders... it just fits, you have all the tech you need, and are mostly invincible

theres some next gen ARPG coming out that looks pretty cool though so I might look into that

I played Tyranid with friends during the 5th edition. We dabbled a bit in the 6th edition but stopped soon after. Think I spent/was gifted $200-300 worth of models with more than half still sitting in the wrapped boxes, waiting to be assembled and maybe painted. Part of me felt maybe I shoulda chosen a less hoarding like army since assembling and painting all those hormagaunts, termagaunts, and genestealers was a nuisance.

Nowadays I only enjoy reading the lore and fluff. Maaaybe one of these days my friends and I will get back into it but maybe not till after their kids have grown up.

This. I love the setting, the theme, and the lore surrounding it, but spending hundreds to thousands on books and plastic toys so I can play army-men but more expensive is a big nope for me.

Yeah, they got rid of the stupid armor rules for vehicles and just gave them high saves and a ton of wounds instead. Weapons have damage values now too. So yeah you can kill a tank with a lasgun, you'll just need to roll a loooooooot of 6's.

I am a bit surprised. Perhaps this is apple vs oranges but I thought the vehicle armour rule, or was it gauss weapons?, got changed because it was possible for Necrons to spam gauss weapons at vehicles until the player lands some lucky rolls.

i like it, but i was never super serious or competitive enough to care what was going on with top or bottom tier armies. i played orks once upon a time, and i had a blast every game

I find the setting to be extremely interesting. I love playing video games in that universe. I'd love to see some more animated stuff from it as well. But I have no desire to get involved in the table top game.

Yeah. I usually buy GW stuff at my local shop because I'm friends with the manager and it supports him, but fuck if I'm paying 215 after tax when I can get it for 160 on an independent site.

see, this is why i want to do tabletop sim (cant call it TTS because that has a wholly different meaning for 40k fans)

you can play 40k AND afford to send your kids to college

Yes, there are $1K+ models.
Nobody actually plays games with them though, because they're usually like 3000+ points each.

I watched parts of a video that covered the highlights of a 1 vs 1, 10k or 20k point game. Even that was almost an hour long just for the highlights. I cannot imagine playing a multi-day game with several others.

They were playing like a 10 player game. It was "Tanksgiving," where people just brought whatever vehicles they had and plopped em down. It took them like 4 hours to finish one turn. The store had to close partway through the second turn.

I really like the aesthetic and theme of 40K, but the only 40K thing I've ever played was Space Marine, which was fucking awesome.
