I have pictures of 1.77 MB reduced to 480 KB by Windows XP's Paint. Just open the pic with it and click Save.
I can't tell the difference at a simple glance with pics 5 megapixels or larger, but at 2 mp you can see some defects. I don't know if XP Paint can open your huge pictures. --- There is no "would of", "should of" or "could of". There is "would've", "should've" and "could've". ... Copied to Clipboard!

If you want to keep it the same size you're most likely going to be changing resolution. Don't go any lower than 72 dpi, or if it's already 72 you can try lowering the jpg compression quality (usually you do this in your jpg options when you save)
