Given the option, would you rather work from home or in an office?

I'd like a balance that mostly involves working from home.

I miss having some of the meetings be in person. I feel like planning sessions and scoping out projects is significantly better in person. But the vast majority of my work is pretty much the same regardless of whether I'm at home or in an office.

I expect that when we do have an office again, I will continue working mostly from home and will go to the office once or twice a week.

I would love to work from home.

The fortunate Id save on gas and the amount of time Id save alone makes it worth it.

I'm currently working from home most days, and heading into the lab twice a week. I'd prefer to go in every day once things are back to normal.

This sounds about right. It's nice to go in from time to time, but if I can sleep in an extra hour and not have to commute while getting exactly the same work done, I'm all for it. That's going to be even more true once winter settles in, since that means no more biking to work for me, but the bus also isn't the most attractive option right now, so I'm not sure how I'll get in there besides some very chilly walks (girlfriend's using the car every day because she's got a 20-minute drive to get to work, plus downtown parking is expensive).

I've been working at home full time since a year before the pandemic started. Wouldn't have it any other way

Office I guess. I spend too much time at home as it is.

Office. It makes me get out of the house. Easy way to meet new people and make friends.

Working from home is ok.

I'm really breaking the rules, because the computer they gave me for my job is total garbage. I only use it to transfer files via the office VPN and I use my own PC for work-related things because it is 20x's better.

I like not having the commute.

Ideally office once or twice a week and home the rest of the time. Otherwise, I would just do office.

Working from home sounds great until you realize that it makes you super lazy and reclusive. Like I literally can't wait until my company starts letting us work in the office again so I can at least get out of the house on a weekday.

I would love to work from home, but I cant. My job is office oriented, but I need to talk to the crew, and use very specific programs that I cant log into from home. Not to mention something that can only be accessed from base because the server isnt connected to any network. So, while I would love to, we cant just yet...

I've worked from home for the last six years and there isn't enough money in the world to make me go back to working in an office again. I get 2+ hours more out of every day, I save thousands a year on gas and car maintenance, and it's just in general a nicer way to live and work. There are tradeoffs that come with it, but overall I still consider it a positive for my work style.

assuming it's a good office, definitely an office.

good office would include:
- sufficient desk space
- sufficiently fast/modern computer with at least 3 preferably 4 monitors
- fast internet
- source of coffee
- quiet working conditions
- nearby acceptable bathroom

really good office would include:
- source of food
- private with lots of space

My brothers Gf felt the same. Although she's now back doing the thing she loves and that's working in a classroom.
