Yeah, that's what we often did in film school and media analysis studies. But a Brechtian approach would have you doing this as your initial approach. Brechtian theater essentially tells you what is going to happen before it happens. You can never be spoiled this way!

I can't say who Luke Skywalker's father is? Even though the movie came out 40 years ago and everyone knows who he is, even people who haven't seen it?

So, we cant spoil who won the Civil War? Or we cant say who Adams wife was in Genesis? How far back are we talking, like the creation of the galaxy or just back to dinosaur days?
