Actually the country did fracture under Lincoln, and his choice to make a Democrat his running mate in 1864 proved disastrous when Andrew Johnson actually got power.

But these intraparty differences like between Biden and Harris are pretty common in presidential tickets; VP candidates are chosen to provide balance as much as anything.

It's one thing to say your opponent's plan won't work because he doesn't understand what a working class American has or something, but that is a level I don't typically remember from someone you will later call a great person.

Well, you are wrong on the facts. In the video she specifically says she does NOT think he's a racist. And she never said he was a sexual assaulter. She said she believed women when they said they felt uncomfortable, and I believe them too. We've all seen how touchy Biden is. He said he didn't know it made some feel uncomfortable, that's just how he connects with people. Men, women, and children. But he'd be far more mindful of the contact going forward. Look at those women's statements. They even specified that it wasn't sexual.

The only person that accused him of anything sexual and that happened this year. And I haven't met anyone that actually believed her ever-changing story after it was fully reported on.

I still think it needs to be properly investigated though.

Camel Ahairyass was probably the worst person he could've picked for VP. I'd have rather had Warren as his VP than her, but we all know why he didn't choose Warren (hint: she's white).

Biden would have probably won this election much easier had he chosen Tulsi Gabbard. She's my favorite Democratic nominee. It was beautiful watching her decimate Camel Ahairyass in the debates. She literally sunk her battleship with her exposition, which is why Camel's chances at becoming president went crashing and burning. The democratic establishment went after Tulsi Gabbard in FULL force afterwards, because she destroyed their star candidate so badly that public approval of Camel had dropped like a rock.
