Samurai armor is pretty weak. Is viking armor worth anything?

Also samurai are generally trained warriors, whereas I think a viking is pretty much any farmer who goes on a raid, so are we talking seasoned warrior or Viking Billy Bob Johns?

Well id side with samurai except two things. One has a strict honor code and the other has beserkers who get hopped up on hensbane tea before a fight. Look it up the main points about the tea I'll give was it somehow constricted blood flow allowing them to take bigger wounds than normal without bleeding out. Also put them in a blood lust apparently so the pain of said wounds wasnt really a factor.

Probably would boil down to certain varibles though. Who attacked who and how prepared the defenders where for a fight. To my understanding samurai armor takes a hot minute to equip and on the flip side I dont see vikinga being like "oh look our beach is being stormed let me put some tea on real quick"

Samurai mostly used spears. Spear beats axe generally simply because of range. Samurai should have this but it's not clear cut. The only issue is that Vikings are a much larger people so they'd be dramatically stronger. They also carried shields

Id probably give it to viking in a one on one fight.

Viking

Samurai is too hung up on what's "honorable" and how war should be fought.
Viking will just gouge his eyes out with his bare hands and piss in the sockets.

It's not about who is more able to fight here, it's about who is more willing.

I believe vikings had spears too. Contrary to popular depiction most warriors used spears except maybe one on one combat and specialists within the group using like claymores to sweep horse legs

The deadliest warrior video game had the Viking using a spear and i believe they tried to be accurate like the tv show. Think most warriors in the game did have a long weapon. Ninja and apache being the oddballs.

Vikings in a one on one ground battle would probably take it.

They had decent armor and shields as well as access to spears and training. But they had a size advantage and in a one on one, that could be a big game changer.

But if it was a full scale battle? Samurai may have the edge with more advanced horseback tactics than the viking employed, and better/more modern long bows.

As said ive read more than one article talking about it. Forgot where I even heard about though that prompted me to look it up.

I may have misremebered all the side effects as I just looked at it. Not seeimg the restricted blood loss one in this article but it is a different article than the last I looked at.

But rage unpredictablity and lessened pain are mentioned along with a tendency to strip down (fight half naked) and a few other things

Samurai were a social class and not directly related to combat. All that stuff about honor or thousand-folded steel or whatever is as fake as ninjas dressing in all black and summoning shadow clones. >_>

Depictions of ninjas in media always kills me. If they where such bad asses they wouldn't need to use stealth. I'm sure some master martial artists existed in their clans but there where probably far more just average martial artists. Maybe my memory is wrong but didn't they resort to stealth because they knew they didnt stand a chance otherwise?

I'm lolling hard at the people talking about honor

There was never any honor in a battle to the death.

That said, you can't just say Viking VS Samurai. The Samurai could have a literal gun.

What are their equipment options? What is the arena like?

I never said all of them did it. Some did some didnt. The article I just read likened it to any other kinda person that does something to get "pepped up" for something they are about to do. Idk all the details like if it was just all raiding parties had a few that did it or if it was more prevalent with particular groups. But it was done.

See, that's actually a convincing argument and something that adds to the discussion. "lo u dumb" isn't; that makes YOU seem like you don't know what you're talking about because you can't respond.

I would assume sterotypical would be likely what we are talking about. Few people think guns when they think samurai. Just like people do think guns when thinking pirates but they didnt always have them.
