cuz in the 5th movie it has alec baldwin deliver this monologue
Hunt is uniquely trained and highly motivated - a specialist without equal - immune to any countermeasures. There is no secret he cannot extract, no security he cannot breach, no person he cannot become. He has most likely anticipated this very conversation and is waiting to strike in whatever direction we move. Sir, Hunt is the living manifestation of destiny - and he has made you his mission. hell yeah there are other reasons too i guess but its mostly this --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

The movies are a bastardized version of the original show. The ones I saw were all right action movies, hell the original one had some iconic bits like the classic rappelling over the security lasers bit, but it was no Mission Impossible. Just call it Tom Cruise blows shit up or whatever. The MI show was about well planned jobs, not oops plans off lets shoot things mcgee.

going to be a sad day when he hangs it up.
i'd argue he and denzel are the only remaining movie stars. they can both lead a movie and have a discernible personality where you more or less know what to expect when you're heading into it. but also are there really other actors willing to swing around the outside of the burj khlaifa.... or learning to fly a helicopter and then doing a dive bomb in it.. or do a halo jump... or tie themselves to the outside of an airplane... i don't think he even takes a paycheck for the movies bc of the insurance policies. he just takes a cut of the box office. normal actors ain't gonna do that shit. dude is out of his mind (for this and also scientology related reasons). --- ...
