The show threw a wedding for 36 y/o Dan and 25 y/o Selina from Connecticut with an on-air ceremony as they were forced to cancel the big wedding due to COVID-19 so they did it live instead. They claimed to have met "several years ago", 7 to be exact in school through "mutual friends" as the segment made for a heartwearming story but people did an investigation and realized she was his 17 y/o STUDENT at the time!! Though unsupported, one youtuber said "It would have been a great story if it was actually true. They met 'in school' because she was his student. The mutual friends was the physics class he taught" Another said "We met in school through mutual friends is a very creative way of saying your relationship started when he was your teacher in high school. Could CBS not find a couple whose relationship didn't begin inappropriately." There is no evidence that Dan was Selina's techer when they started dating however it is understood he did work at the high school she graduated in 2013, the same year they started dating. Others say he is a PEDOPHILE and should be arrested Dan said "i knew she was very special from day one" as Selina gushed "I admire him and i just see a positive future for us and for the world because he made a really awesome impact on a lot of people, especially me" Selina was working as a pediatric nurse at a children's hospital when COVID-19 hit and volunteered to work on the front lines at New York Presbyterian Hospital and went months not seeing each other as they postponed their wedding.. But during Drew's show she threw them a surprise wedding as Dan surprised her by asking if she wanted to get married right then and there and she said yes as they later changed into wedding outfits. Sure as a student this might has had legal implications but even then they are both adults so I don't care. They are free to get married however way they want providing it's legal. I'm not sure how deep you can expect the producers to dig into their lives, but I do think it's weird to bring on people with an 11 year gap in age claiming to have met in school. ... Copied to Clipboard!

They shouldn't have been dating when she was a student, given the clear conflict of interest/authority issue there, but at 17/18 there wouldn't have been much risk of grooming moving forward from there, and the fact that they've been happily dating for 7 years suggests that it ended up being a reasonably healthy relationship. No harm, no foul, I'd say.

We tend to round ages down to the nearest whole year regardless of how far through that year a person is (e.g. you're still 17 even if your 18th birthday is tomorrow), but "7 years" can mean anything from 6.5-7.5. On top of that, on that sort of time scale, people tend not to look so much at the actual difference and instead just subtract the year it happened from the current year, so it probably actually means some time in 2013 (which could potentially be as much as 7 years, 11 months at this point). --- This is my signature.
