I heard people were underwhelmed, but this legitimately feels like bad Borderlands 2 DLC.

I just don't get it - did they actually think this felt like an evolution in game design over BL2?

I'm not surprised. I'd imagine they had to quickly throw it together because Battleborn was such a bust. The BL games are pretty wildly successful and Gearbox needed a hit.

I actually liked the first BL more, but I respected BL2 for simply being "more of everything" in a way that was still enjoyable and fresh.

Id only be interested if it went to VR. 2 was so much fun in VR. Going back to the same thing without VR is just not alluring at all.

I liked the gunplay better in 3 than 2. A lot of the guns in 2 lacked any oomph and 3 has some really cool ones

BL1 still has the best feeling guns though.

Generally speaking the gameplay is improved but the story came across as disappointing. Also, at least half of the fanbase wants to eject Ava out of the same airlock used for the Kevins.

How so? The humor can be a bit cringey, even for Borderlands, but the gunplay itself is just as solid as you'd expect from the series.

Gameplay is fine, but the jokes and story (good lord, fuck the antagonists in this one), are such garbage.

Matchmaking is annoying too.

That's fair. I don't know if I just grew out of it, but the writing is pretty bad. And coming from Handsome Jack in 2, the twins are pretty garbage antagonists.

That was the dealbreaker, writing-wise, for me. I still finished and ultimately enjoyed the game, but jesus christ was she annoying.

I quit playing. I was playing PS4 couch co-op and its completely unplayable. I may pick it back up if it can actually run on PS5

They peaked with Handsome Jack. Doesn't help the new antagonists were lame in comparison.

if you think that's bad, try couch coop on a regular PS4. When one of the two players opens their menu the game suddenly runs like you're trying to play Crysis 1 on launch day on a laptop.

It's god awful on a standard Xbone too, holy shit did I hate having to plan when to open menu's.

And TC saying it feels like BL2 DLC is like an insult to its DLC. I can't believe the game was that bad after how fantastic Claptastic Voyage and Dragon Keep were. TPS and most of BL2's DLC was outsourced, so you'd think 3 would turn out differently...

Same. Picked it up this summer along with a couple friends, we had a blast putting a bunch of hours into it and still play it here and there.

I don't expect or want them to change up the formula too much

I was ready and willing for borderlands 3 to just be more borderlands, but it had and still has legitimate performance issues that made it worse to play than older borderlands.

It also doesn't help that it has a premium loot box system, they spent the first month nerfing all the fun guns because for some reason their single player power fantasy game needs weapon balance, and at least it launched there were some pretty serious bugs like weapons falling through the floor in major vendor areas making them impossible to recover.

Borderlands(or any series I like really) doesn't have to change its formula, but when a series starts shitting the bed for me I stop playing it. And I can't believe I forgot to complain about the constant early nerfs, that and the live service crap were such awful changes for the series. At least BL2 let you play the content whenever you wanted.

i was planning on getting it during the Black Friday sales on Steam but decided to wait for an inevitable GOTY edition.

but now after reading how it feels rushed, i'm starting to feel glad that i didn't buy it... lol

Gameplay is good, better than ever but yeah story and villains sucked, especially compared to Handsome Jack. They tried extra hard to make us hate the Twins in 3 and they succeeded but not in a good way.

I still pick up 2 every now and then. And for what it's worth, TPS is decent.

The story was unbearably bad. I think I stopped after the second vault and I beat the last 3 a few times a piece. Actual gameplay was okay when it worked. Co-op was shit too.

BL2 is one of my favorite games. Shame that BL3 was a let down.

Gun play was an improvement all around, all of the vault hunters are fun and powerful.

The story is atrociously bad however. Bad enough where I'd be weary to recommend someone to play it. What were they thinking with the Calypso twins ... and Ava ...

The DLCs are pretty good though. Great loot and stories are pretty good, especially Bounty of Blood
