Just started. I got a tip a long time ago that when I'm caught up on levels/ bored of side quests, I should just move on because I can come back post game in chapter select on hard mode to clean those up. Is my understanding right? I just beat the first boss so I'm just getting started.

You can but you always have to restart the chapter from the beginning and theres a lot of slow unskippable stuff so keep that in mind.

ye, though once you see the credits you'll drop the game like a bad habit and won't want to go back to it

Gotcha. Still, I probably should be moving on if I'm getting tired anyway. Can I also replay side missions I've done before?

Yup. Youll probably have to to unlock the others.

Ya you can easily skip them all. You can save yourself time though if you want to get all the trophies by looking up choices to make for which dresses everyone wears in a later chapter.

There's basically a whole set of sidequests you will miss out on first playthrough as it's dependant on choices you make.

It's the same size as they were in Advent Children. 34DDD officially. Some people somehow use the terrible PSX model as a reference. By that logic Cloud's hair got a reduction.

Idk if I'll make this a play through topic, but I'm enjoying my time so far. Fun game play, and it's enjoyable to see familiar characters on a new adventure (I know many whispers of fate spoilers).

This game really is as good as people say so far, even with the spoilers in mind. Just finished chapter 4 and I'm really liking the Avalanche cast.

Yeah, despite the spoilers for the ending I'm actually really looking forward to the next part. They nailed the combat system (while still having room to improve) and the great character moments.

I actually really like the idea of the spoilers (even if I trolled otherwise closer to release...)

It's fun to see familiar characters on a new adventure while still getting to see the original environments re imagined in the modern day. There is a distinctly 90s design philosophy this game has that make it pretty interesting visually.

I'm mostly concerned on how different the story is gonna be going forward. If it's wildly different I feel they should've just made it a separate spin-off series as part of the Compilation rather than baiting the people who wanted a remake of the original.

I wouldn't mind like, expanded lore, adding stuff from the Compilation that makes sense, and new mysteries on top of the original story to keep fans talking though.

So the whispers just showed up to hurt Jessie's leg. Is this because in the original Cloud had already agreed to help with the second reactor at Tifa's request? Was Jessie injured during the first mission or something in the original? Been a while since I played.

IIRC Jessie still joined in the second attack in the original, but here they injured her so that they'd be forced to take Cloud along, otherwise they'd be down one man. The major catalyst for the events to continue along like "normal" is that Cloud has to be on the second bombing mission, Jessie wasn't necessary.

Make sure you master the weapon ability for it before you abandon it. Every weapon has a unique ability and if you use it enough times you then can use it on any weapon.
