Board 8 > Home Alone 1 or 2?

2 is one of the very few formulaic sequels that is actually good. I've seen a lot of people say it's better than the original but I think the original is just narrowly better.

1 and 2 are both great. People crap on 2 for having too many throwbacks to 1, which is often a fair criticism, but they do it in a charming way that makes it feel like it goes hand in hand with the original, and it has plenty of refreshing things like Tim Curry and the hotel staff, and the new setting is fun.

I'd score them the same, and give a slight edge to 1 just for starting it.

This. I love some of the running gags in 2, especially when the family is stuck in a Miami hotel room, forced to watch It's a Wonderful Life in Spanish (in 1, they were stuck in a French hotel room forced to watch the same movie in French).

I watched 2 more often when I was growing up so I think I remember it with more fondness.

But I think 1 is a slightly better movie.

This is my take too. I haven't seen it recently enough to fully defend it but I remember rewatching it as an adult and thinking it was the better of the 3. I remember my thought was "it's definitely more home alone than I remember home alone itself being"

3 is better when you are literally 9 years old.

I have always had it in my head that part two is better so I always watched it more. But I recently re-watched part 1 on Disney plus a year ago and I just find it way better now. I don't know how I missed that but everything is just a bit more refined . Especially the scary person that helps him, he at least had some buildup in part 1, part 2 the crazy homeless lady is just random. And a lot of part 2 really does rely on you having watched part 1 because it's a rehash for the most part

However I will say part 2 has my favorite trap, the electricution scene

Impossible for me to say which one I like more. Watched them equally as a kid, it was traditional for me and my sister to view both every Christmas.

Though I haven't watched them as an adult, so it's been over a decade since seeing either. I should fix that soon.

Articles can get locked if they become the target of frequent vandalism. Home Alone 2 has a cameo by Trump so I wouldn't be surprised if it was getting vandalized because of that (or they preemptively locked it to prevent vandalism). Can't speak for 1.
