The collection of states asks the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to restrain Facebook from making further acquisitions valued at or in excess of $10 million without notifying the plaintiff states in advance. The lawsuit also asks the court for any additional relief it determines is appropriate, including the divestiture or restructuring of illegally acquired companies, or current Facebook assets or business lines.

This is really good news. Time will tell how this plays out, and I say that mainly because due to how many important people (such as politicians) line their pockets with Facebooks money, there is no telling just how this will play out.

Unfortunateky FB is so big that even if they lose this case, it may not have a huge impact on them. However, if theyre forced to split off and break away from its purchases, like Instagram, for example, that would definitely be a good start.

As sad as it is to say this, the intelligence communitylike the CIA, MI6, Mossad, etchave such a huge reliance on data they are able to gather from these big tech companies, ESPECIALLY Facebook, that they will never let Facebook fail. At least, not without having some sort of contingency in place, or some sort of lateral move to another type of platform or something similar that they can covertly make.

We all would be much better off as a society if we all woke up tomorrow and FB had vanished from existence.

Yeah I dont get that. At first I thought it was a situation where a few states just hadnt joined YET...but yeah, theyre willingly not participating in the lawsuit for whatever reason. I could understand maybe California being on the list of states not filing, because of Silicon Valley, but yeah, even Cali joined. I cant really imagine why those other few states refused to participate.
