Well I don't mean gimmick per say as in he's taking being an asshole, I mean more like... I guess the reason he has such a huge fan base that literally pays his way through life.

I'm thinking it's some sort of irony that if he was a good dude he wouldn't have gotten a dime and be lost in the shuffle of other wannabe streamers.

To give you an idea, during the marathon, he received just shy of 500 dollars just in tips. The bulk of it came just from 5 people:

$200 - Merdok
$100 - Jakileez
$55 - RipleyAtomic
$20 - Jahman
$19 - BattleDuck900

Bear in mind, this is tips only, I am not including bits and subs. But if you are going to tally everything, on average Phil makes at least 8.000 dollars per month doing what he does.

Phil had a lot of "detractors". And I use the air quotes, because anyone who doesn't like Phil's content is pretty much a detractor.

The reason people give Phil money is to "stick it to the haters" so to speak. Yes Phil is a pity streamer and has woven a narrative that people want to see him fail. So people giving Phil money can see themselves as heroes.

Phil threw a bitchfit, sayinghe didn't and banned the person who made the comment.

After banning that person, Phil asked how he contradicted himself and wanted an example. Of course there was no response (since they were banned and all) and Phil took this lack of a response as proof that he wad right and didn't contradict himself.

This is his disgusting tactic, silence any opposing voice till none are left to then claim victory how there are no opposing voices.

I am going to speculate here, but I think he might have had a falling out with his parents. Phil has a pattern of behaviour of throwing people under the bus, the second they are of no use to him, or slight him.

This is an especially mean spirited Tweet, even for Phil. But I must stress again, this is purely speculative.

Not really, IMO. A lot of people like to talk about their Holiday meals, and he does it for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so this isn't something new. Lots of people do it. Social media is full of strange people that feel the need to talk about every aspect of their lives

I honestly think you all are insane about him dunking on his parents. His parents seem like the type that don't put a lot of effort into their daily lives, so I think is parents are the type of people that do just eat toast on Christmas and doesn't give a shit about it. I hate big holiday meals myself, maybe they do as well?

But he did it for Thanksgiving as well. He does it on these big holidays. I think having a holiday meal legit makes him feel good and with a person like that, anything that makes you feel good you're going to go the extra step.

Let me answer your question with another question.

What does Phil have going on for him, outside of his streams?

I think we can all agree that Phil is in a loveless marriage, and I'd honestly be surprised if they consumated their marriage yet. Also, for refference, there are clips when Phil was still with Leanna and she complained about his low sex drive.

He doesn't have any social (and I do mean actual interpersonal) interactions. Outside of his scheduled phonecalls with his mom every tuesday, he has nothing going on. No friends to hang out with, no other hobbies to share. With one huge exception: WWE. And because he craves validation and recognition, he dumps massive ammounts of money in a mobile gacha game, to literally buy status.

He doesn't have social contacts outside of his stream chat. No interactions with his fans on a personal level. And the friendships he did have, well, we all know those stories.

I get wanting to share things, I think we all do. You want to share your experiences with like minded people and maybe trade notes. Wether it is painting, reading, building legos or whatever floats your boat, we enjoy these hobbies more when we can share them with out peers.

But since Phil has nothing, absolutely nothing outside of his streams, he shares (and often overshares) every minute detail of his life.

This almost makes me feel sad, because we all long for a feeling of belonging. Then you remember what a vapid toxic asshole he is after watching just 2 minutes of his stream and that empathy you felt dissapears again.

Phil isn't just dumb, he is monumentally stupid.

During the CP77 stream he decided to put up a bug counter, not unlike the deathcounter he uses for the Souls games. Phil, being an example of a great gamer, has taken it upon himself to catagorize each and every bug he encounters in this game. And there is no way this could go wrong, right?

So at a certain point, Phil came across a NPC who was preparing a chicken. They cut off the head of the chicken, bagged it, and put that bag in their jacket.

Phil wasn't (propely) paying attention, noticed the "missing" chicken and immediatly proclaimed it to be a bug. Chat was quick to respond that it wasn't a bug, but their attempt to explain what happened fell on deaf ears.

Phil responded by yelling at his viewers that that didn't happen, that the chicken dissapeared and that it was indeed a bug.

Then, not three minutes later, Phil watches that NPC take the chicken out of their jacket and reacts "chicken".

I lack the words to propely describe how fucking stupid Phil is. But this does prove that Phil doesn't live in the same reality as the rest of us do.

If Phil didn't see it happen, it didn't happen. But even when presented with evidence that it DID happen, he can't put 2 and 2 together.

There are so many easier solutions. Like disabling tips, only relying on cheers/bits and subs. Or let the tip money sit on Paypal till the cooldown period has passed. Or create a buffer.

But no, Phil requires YOU to solve the problem by basically doxxing yourself to him in order to give him money.

And why is that?

Because he is the greediest motherfucker known to man. He clears his paypal any chance he gets. He wants that money now, right away. All it costs you to give money to Phil, is all your personal information.

This clip is so revealing.

Look at the rest of his Yakuza playthrough first. Falling asleep during cutscenes, no engagement. Dialing in the battles (just literally doing the same thing over and over again). Doesn't do any optional dungeons where challenging fights can be found (and rewards to match) and overall is not invested into the game at all.

Then he happens upon a blackjack table and everything changes.

Phil is alert, he is engaged he is invested. He is literally EVERYTHING he wasn't before. Gets excited for card flips, and almost seems extatic when he wins. The way his eyes light up when he gets a good card.

It's quite the transformation. And it leaves no doubt in my mind that this man is indeed addicted to gambling, no matter which kind it is. It confirms, cements even, the belief that he is indeed playing a WWE gacha game, because out of nowhere he mentioned the Undertaker during this segment.

I doubt this very much, there are other people there. And given how paranoid Phil is, I just don't see it happening. Online Casinos are in the realm of possibility for me. But I think we might have seen something on his bankruptcy filing regarding that.

Still, given the way Phil acted during this segment, there is no shred of doubt in my mind anymore that he has a gambling addiction, no matter which form it takes.

He gets no stimulation, no one plays with him and when he tries to get Phil's attention he gets sprayed.

The only support he acknowledges, are tips. And even though he made the tipsgoal before (he made 426 dollars in just 2 days), it immediatly goes into a void. There is only the here and now.

On top of that, he is making people jump through more hoops in order to give him money, and now he complains about the direct effect it has.

Again, there are so many simpler and better solutions, but all of those require Phil to stop being a greedy asshole: create a buffet, let the money rest on his paypal account till the cooldown period elapses, switch to bits/cheers and subs only to name just a few.

He went on an inquisition during his CoD stream for someone named GermWorm. Which is weird, because Phil enabled verified tips only, according to himself.

Also, GermWorm said they don't have a Paypal account, so Phil responded he can't accept the tip then. GermWorm had tipped Phil in the past however, even though Phil claims the name doesn't sound familiar.

GermWorm then proceeds to tip TWICE from sn unverified Paypal account and Phil decides to "take a risk" by accepting the tips. He won't put them up on the leaderbiard however and is now expecting GermWorm to tip from a verified Paypal account.

Apart from this total clownshow bullshit, Phil thus admiddetly lied about the whole thing, since he is not only open to unverified Paypal accounts, but also open to tips from other sources.

He also fell asleep during CP77, his excuse? His eyes are burning (both times), he's not even trying.

He also completed the game, and is doing a post-game review. The first 10 minutes or so, is him bitching about the sex/nudity in the game. How the fuck do you get to 38 and be like this?

Phil is once again defending Bugsnax. The game has a complex story and one of the best in gaming.

Now, according to Phil, the release of Cyberpunk 2077 could destroy CDPR. He once again shows how out of touch he is with the industry he is "part of". On PC alone, the game sold enough copies to earn back the costs of the game.

As Phil is doing his "review", take into consideration he got the worst ending of the game (not really shocking, I mean, it's Phil).

He is also stalling hard to end his stream, since he was sitting on 20 bucks worth of tips.for most of it. Got an 11 dollar tip and immediatly told people to step it up. He later pointed at the tips goal when it was at 32 dollars saying "this right here sucks". And then blamed Cyberpunk for the slow tips.
