Did the site get it right on where your family came from?

We are all immigrants..for the most part if you are living in a westernized world..but do you know where your ancestors came from? This site will tell you exactly where your ancestors are from based on your surname and gives you 1-3 countries where it could be..

It says mine is either in the US, China or Canada...and it got it right!

did it get yours right?

According to this:
English, German, Danish, Swedish, Jewish, Irish and French
Mostly found in England, Germany and United States

It's not wrong as my last name does originate from Germany. I've only a Uncle I know of that lived over there though.

1 English: occupational name for a gamekeeper employed in a medieval park, from an agent derivative of Middle English parc park ( see Park 1). This surname is also found in Ireland.

My last name is a bit unusual so I'm not surprised it was able to pin down the origin.

We are not all immigrants. My whole family tree has been from Dutch Germanic tribes and being living in the lands of those tribes for at least 600 years.

Instead of using my actual last name I used my great great grandfather's instead. Unsurprisingly it traces back to England. Most black people in the West shouldn't bother with this exercise since their original names were changed. I can trace mine because this guy was a plantation owning aristocrat.

Old French occupational name, or German variant of another name. I'm pretty sure my earliest ancestors in the US came from Germany.

Same.

Mine says Italy, Mexico, and El Salvador; born in the Philippines.

Which is not totally surprising given that long history of being a spanish colony.

Nice try duckbear, secretly uncovering my identity.

... JK no one cares who any of us are. Cappel means church and is German, I already knew this, my family is from an extremely religious group of Germans who fled WWI to America. To this day I don't think anyone in my family would look twice at joining an army.

I'm athiest though, so it's a misnomer.

My surname changed twice. Not as in "somebody had a girl who took a husband's name" but like was literally turned from one thing into another on two occasions for different reasons.

Oops... to answer the question: this got it right. It's from Germany. But the weird part is that to a lesser extent it's also in Slovakia...
