Do it, I've done a bunch lately and I think it helped with my mentality and confidence. You'll probably wear pants for the job, so it makes sense.

I went to my school IT interview in shirt and dress pants and nice shoes and the first thing I said after it was obvious they were desperate at my skills was 'I'm not dressing like this every day' and they accepted it

Don't wear shoes, I never wear shoes in my house because I like to keep it clean. But yeah I reccomend wearing pants, it helps remind you that you're in a technically "professional" enviroment. Wearing shorts or in my underwear puts me in a relaxing state.

Get as dressed you need to be to get in the zone for the interview.

Highly recommend pants but shoes might be a bit of a stretch. God forbid you have to stand up for a second and you're wearing shorts or jeans.

I would never do an interview in business casual unless they told me to. And even then, jeans is a stretch.
