I think that any well-reasoned adult (even at 18) should be able to look at another human being, especially under the age of 18 and think "I am an adult, they are sixteen, and I have the reason to not pursue that person". In the same way that someone should be able to separate sexuality and family.

Providing it's legal I don't care. Wanting to fuck family is another topic.

That being said, I do believe more mental health recognition is needed for those who feel an attraction to younger people and cannot separate those feelings from reason.

Paedophile certainly is mental health.

Yes actually. When I was 14 I got an internet girlfriend who claimed to be just a little older than me. We talked a lot on msn messenger and had a few phone calls. She sounded a little older. She sent me lots of pictures of herself though, and lots of nudes and stuff but she refused to do video chat. She was even sending me gifts in the mail via a po box. She was saying she was gonna get a hotel nearby so we could be together. Anyway I forget what it was but something made me start to get suspicious of her and after a ton of research I eventually found out she was a 38 year old woman and the pictures she was sending me were of her 15 year old daughter.

I confronted her about it, she kept trying to push saying age was just a number, etc. Anyway I stopped talking to her. Probably should have reported her to the police.

That is creepy. She probably went on to another kid.

So a 17 year old and a 16 year old can date but as soon as the 17 year old turns eighteen their gf/bf is off limits now?

The only crossover I think is within reason is 18 and 17. A grade twelve dating a grade nine student was always inherently strange. 18 and 14? No. 18 and 15? No. 18 and 16? We're reaching reasonable.

Well, you've made a basic error in conflating me giving a shit about your own semantics surrounding laws and my concern for paedophilia in society. I can criticize how people talk about laws while still denouncing paedophilia.

My main point was that saying things like "Teachers having sex with high school students isn't paedophilia" does more to encourage paedophilia than it does to denounce it. What are you trying to indicate with this point, aside from a tacit acceptance of adults having sex with teenagers, whom you differentiate from children under the pedophilia umbrella.

I'm screaming paedophilia? I feel as though I'm making observations. Does anyone else feel I'm screaming?

Three times in real life. Twice when I was a kid. First time I was 5-6 playing with my friend in her front yard when this green car stops at the curb and the dude driving calls out to us. My friend, being a dumb kid, goes over to his window and he's naked from the waist down and jerkin it.
Second time was about two years later. My neighbors were over for dinner. Their mom was my mom's bff, their daughter was my teenaged sister's bff, the family was close, ya know? I was the youngest and I was playing in the back yard, their son was older, almost a teen, and keepin an eye on me. We had a waist high chain link fence around the yard, and this dude comes out of the woods behind our house, walks up to the fence and calls me to come over to him. David, the older boy, grabs me, drags me back towards the house and yells for our dads, who come outside and see this sketchy ass dude by the fence. They walk over and the dude runs like hell, so my dad goes inside and calls the cops.
Last time was about 15 years ago. Guy down the street raped and murdered his girlfriend's 12 year old daughter.
Later found out he was a convicted sex offender with over half a dozen other victims.

It encourages nothing, but screaming "pedophilia" where it doesn't apply both make you seem too emotional and unintelligent, and can lead to nothing good. What if someone gets a rumor about being one without actually being one and getting beaten up, killed, or committing suicide over it?
