Over 5000+ players are currently in the system of M2-XFE attempting to destroy an Imperium Keepstar. Imperium coalition and PAPI coalition have been in a 6 month long war of attrition. The imperium have been on the back foot for a large majority of the campaign as PAPI have been slowly burning through Querious and Delve. Tonight Imperium have decided to field their Supercapital fleets consisting of the largest ships in the game. Extremely expensive and take months to build. This will be the defining battle of the war and possibly the largest online multiplayer battle to date.

The amount of in game currency being destroyed is brain melting. Articles will be written about this in the next few days.

Expect the battle to continue for another 7hours minimum.

I always wanted to play this but have the feeling this would feel more like work than a game

Who is likely to win and why?

The battle is dead even at this point with both sides refusing to budge and continue to deploy weapons known as Doomsday and both losing roughly equal amounts of Titans.

Before this fight PAPI was easily winning the war with Imperium holding up in their strongest systems. This battle could turn the tide and allow Imperium to push back against PAPIs invasion.

Not at all. The build up to these battles is intense and you're constantly in comms with hundreds of other players. Add to that you get to interact with the biggest names in the game and it makes for an intense experience.

That just sounds like a headache. Even being in comms with 20-30 people can get overwhelming. I imagine there's a lot of shouting over each other.

In a comms channel with hundreds of people only 4 or 5 Fleet Commanders are talking. If you just shit up comms you will be muted or kicked. Its 10/10 serious nerd business.

How much real money is being pissed away this time?

I dunno, but some of these ships took years to grind for...and the toughest of them lasts about ten seconds under all the concentrated fire going down feebas

The going estimate as of now is somewhere around $100,000 and its just starting. The most damage comes as the fight winds down and one side attempts to leave turning the battle into a route.

But how many female playesr are there I can flirt with?

EVE servers are designed to impliment time dilation to slow instances down when large numbers of players are present. This is primarily why battles can take a stupid long time.

TIDI is currently at 10% of real time.

Even more Capitals are jump bridging into system as the fight is shifting to European, Asian, and Australian Timezones. It's becoming a bloodbath, neither side backing down.

The battle just came to a close after 11hours of nonstop fighting.

Over 6700 players partook over the course of evening, late night, and early morning.

PAPI obtained its strategic objective of destroying the Keepstars armor but weren't able to crush the enemy Super capital fleet like they hoped. In terms of lost currency and ships it was about even.

The Keepstars hull will be open for actual destruction Saturday afternoon and it could go either way. Either Imperium stays and fights for it or they cut and run to save their fleet.

This battle broke tons of records and I guarantee there will be silly articles written about how much irl money was lost yada yada.

As a player it was a joy to participate in.

Yeah but it really isnt the most interesting thing to watch. More fun to just read about it if its something that you're interested in.

Nothing can be held back. If Goons actually decide to take the battle, there is a decent chance this war could be over by Monday, as once that Keepstar is dead, we will be in a position to completely annihilate Goons super fleet down to the last titan. It is not often that I would say something like this, but for the next three days, starting on Friday and all the way through to the end of the battle Sunday night, if at all possible, you need to plan to play EVE. Cancel your plans, call in sick to work, if there was ever a time to find a way to play EVE, this weekend would be it.

Pings are going out on Slack that tomorrow is a 24hr stratop. An Imperium Keepstars (think of a deathstar sized station) vulnerability timer will start and it will be able to be destroyed.

In order to destroy it there will be hours long preops and logistic movements to get thousands of players and ships into the correct fleets, ships, systems, and comms in order to then begin the stratop proper. If the Imperium decides to fight it could very well become an even larger battle than the one two days ago.

I'll definitely be there for the entire 24 hours and I personally know hundreds in my corp alone that will be with me.

What started this war between the two factions? How did the animosity get to this level? Did one dude make a joke about another's mom ten years ago and then just prep for this moment of revenge?

There was a giant war called the Casino War that started because of a personal slight.

This war started when a NAP ran out between two of the largest alliances, TEST and Goonswarm. I'm not privy to all the behind the scenes information but TEST leadership decided not to renew the the NAP and said "make of that what you will." Everyone at that point knew there would be a war. Goonswarm is the largest and most hated alliance in the game and TEST was able to convince the other large alliances in the game to join them to create a super coalition called PAPI. Goons pulled their allies together and are known as The Imperium.

Moveops have completed and we have over 4000 pilots for the PAPI side sitting in staging. Not sure what the Imperium numbers are but their activity across the neighboring regions have been nonexistant today so I assume they are fielding as many or more players.

Tonight will be a bloodbath even larger than the other day since neither side will be able to disengage once the fight starts.

Have been on since 3am and plan on being around until at least 9am Sun. morning.

What the hell is this game. Whenever I randomly hear about it and I YouTube the only gameplay I see is menus and a bunch of stupid dots.
