Also Mulan wasnt great, but its passable. At least its clearly distinct from the original, its not trying to be the same. Thats good.

I guess I just can't buy into the idea that you get automatic points for trying to be different.

Like. As a baseline starting point, how is "different" default better than "same" when the original is a known smash hit

Different doesn't mean bad, but it certainly shouldn't mean good

That's not quite what I meant.

The point remains even if it is 50% approved. There are obviously children who love the singing animal movie. The integrity of the numbers is not that significant to the point really. Unless you are suggesting it got 100% bad reviews from genuine reviewers

I guess I should be a little bit more direct with what I'm saying.

children who see remade Lion King now at a young age and love it

I'm not saying this doesn't happen. I'm just saying I don't trust Rotten Tomatoes scores. Ergo, I'm not saying it's false, but I wouldn't believe it to be true based on Rotten Tomatoes.

Why don't you trust the scores? What makes RT in particular untrustworthy?

Well not to go into too much detail, but it mainly started because of all the controversy with the Captain Marvel stuff. For the record, never seen it, don't know if it's good or bad. I did however see plenty of people post evidence showing massive numbers of scores being deleted, which I have a really difficult time believing that 100% of those scores deserved to be removed. As well as their new program of only allowing authorized audience members to score it, such weird timing on that. That's really just the tip of the iceberg and also not the only movie they've supposedly done it for.

Again, I didn't really want to go through all of this because it would be a lot of research and a lot of typing so I'm not trying to persuade anyone else to think the way I do. These are just my reasons.

Discounting review bombing is something plenty of sites do. IMDb has a method of weighing votes from "regular" voters to counteract people who register just to give out a couple 1/10s (or 10/10s). This was particularly notable last year when Netflix released a film that got alot of people's panties in a twist.

Review bombing is definitely something that needs to be prevented. That being said, I don't believe that 100% of the removed reviews was that is what I was saying.

As for the Netflix movie, if it's what I think you're referring to then I'm much more willing to believe it getting review bombed by people who didn't watch it than I am Captain Marvel.

For the Netflix one, that is for sure true. Few people watched that one.

For Captain Marvel, it is very realistic too though. Brie Larson is easily one of the most hated actors online. You can see that vote trend just from votes on her interviews and TV commercials.

Well if you want to bring that up, let's go all the way and talk about how hated the current version of the Captain Marvel character is. While those are both true, the film was not only marketing itself as a must see for the MCU's endgame, but it pretty much piggybacked off that very thing.

I'm sure there are many people who actively went there to negatively review it, but I don't think the number of people who hadn't seen it that did that corresponds with the number of reviews that were removed, or even close.

(just look at the post I was responding to, it was clearly not that serious)

Oh ok, I was just making sure you knew I wasn't specifically disagreeing with you.
