Maybe won't be a big deal in a few years if they're producing full electric SUVs but for now it sucks. Not in the market for a new car just yet but I like seeing what's out there and keeping my options open and it seems like outside of Toyota and Honda companies are just ending their sedan (at least hybrid sedan) lines in favor of shitty hybrid SUVs that get 19 mpg

I work in the corporate auto industry and sedans just dont profit well. We make way more money on crossovers, suvs, and trucks. Theres also a large amount of resources being poured in to AI and electric cars for R&D. If you want a Camry than get a damn Camry and quit ******. Im sick of these boomer meme old school car people whining and crying.

There are way too many shitty looking oversized vehicles out there. Large trucks and SUVs just make things less safe for anyone near them. Terrible visibility at close distances so it is easier for them to accidentally hit someone or something.

Reality is people either need something really small, or need more utility or are simply more willing to pay for more space because standards have changed.

The crossover concept seems silly at first not as economical as a sedan or capable of real offroad, especially if it's a FWD, but I'm in my 3rd one. Space and ground clearance, don't think about a thing.

Smaller crossovers are a little weird, though. C-HR, CX-30, HR-V, Kicks etc. If I recall correctly, a CX-30 is hardly larger than a Mazda 3. The Kicks I had to rent seemed just like the Sentra I rented rear seats are useless for normal sized people. Did have a bit more cargo space, though.

Sedans seem to be more of a luxury target now. There's arguably less and less reason for a non-hatch setup to exist in the practical world. You shouldn't need to resort to a vertically deep trunk to afford space and make loading less convenient. Stuff like the KIA Stinger run hatches in a sedan guise. Aesthetically a sedan profile isn't so "correct" anymore. If you try to win more space, now it's a pointlessly big sedan without the ground clearance of a crossover.

I've pondered picking up an IS or Evo for a second, and looking it through, it was pointless attempting to satisfy a middle ground between sports car and practical car. Made more sense to just get both separately or one or the other if that wasn't affordable.

I'm expecting when sedans are more fully phased out, crossover prices will drop since production lines will presumably simplify.

Yeah I hate this. Feels like everyone is in some kind of competition to be the king of the road too so they just keep getting bigger and bigger and if you want to drive a smaller, more practical commuter car you either gotta live with it or join them and keep exacerbating the problem
