It does irk me that mods don't read the room. They have slapped my wrist over things before and don't do anything about the same people doing the same things until I point it out to them out of spite. Thankfully they saw the error of their ways and balance was restored.

I can't remember the topics. But I do remember they said they all the military should be killed and left in a ditch or something similar. I didn't agree. And explained that not everyone in the military was kill-happy. And we got into an argument. And that's was at the end of the argument.

I am not super active on PotD but I've seen many topics about people losing loved ones and I've never seen anyone harassing them over it. It would be very strange for Arctic to be the exception to that

People *really* didn't like Arctic. And, like others have noted, he had a history of lousy behavior (suggestions of violence, wishing harm, occasional slurs, etc) and, while others' bad behavior is constantly excused by other PotDers, his generally wasn't.

Otherwise if you were more active, you'd see a lot of horrible stuff. The board can be very toxic at times.

I will say folk attacking Arctic for the death of his old man didn't happen from what I recall. However some folk whenever drama happens tend to jump on the bandwagon here so can't say for sure.

IIRC they claimed to be different unrelated people, but I never cared enough to keep track.

Based on very hazy memory they seem to have disappeared at about the same time, but given how long ago that was that's 3 years.

Arctic and I got along for years on this board, actually. I remember when we had fun conversations about drinking rum. I never harassed him, and he never harassed me until that day. He obviously took the loss of his father very hard, and I believe I tried to directly suggest that he take a break from posting because he was being very aggressive (more so than usual). Apparently that deserved death threats and abuse in return.

I don't even know if I have the PMs related to that mess anymore. I can barely remember what happened, but he definitely offended Kana and me with direct abusive comments out of nowhere. We never had any problems communicating until that thread.

The reason I call him the GoT is because a lot of people ITT seem to be overlooking the fact that he was very popular for years before his meltdown. That's not to trivialize those who had issue with him before that, oftentimes for legitimate reason (there were warning signs to his more negative aspects, and I say that as someone who was a friend of his). But he went from a minor PotD celebrity to a dirty word pretty much overnight, because RC is our queen and he committed treason.

I agree with this. He was a mainstay regular for years, active through the tinychat era and megathreads and all that good social stuff. He always had a dry, direct, humor, but it was never like what happened in that topic. That wasn't humorous at all.
