As someone with GAD, I truly hope you break your funk soon, and following this advice is probably a good idea.

CE isnt the best place to be for someone in a bad state of mind, there is a certain female user here who should have blocked this site from her browser years ago.

the stigma of these things doesn't bother me at all

but i have a shitty insurance plan with a high deductible, and most doctors i've met (like, i don't even know what i can attribute this to - bad luck, maybe? or maybe i'm just that dislikable?) have been totally unempathetic, incredibly unsympathetic, and just generally demeaning/belittling

don't wanna spend money just for the chance of seeing somebody understanding

FWIW, I was seeing a therapist before starting my medication. She and I discussed what medicine we thought was best and I went in and told my PCP exactly what I wanted to take.

I can't speak on your insurance and options, but I always do a Google search of the available doctors in the area and find the ones with the most positive people skills. It's usually a longer wait to get an appointment, but it's worth it.
