Just beat Bloodborne and Demon's Souls. Really not all that frustrating outside of a few segments. Probably died less than 20 times across both games. Starting up DS3 now. Would recommend giving it another shot tbh they're fun.

But on topic: I think there's a balance that can be struck. I don't play the souls games myself, but the people who do play them talk about how their repeated attempts and retries on certain battles don't feel like wasted time or frustrating because they're learning more about how to approach the battle.

Desperados III was maybe my favorite game last year, but it's also one that expects you to save and reload dozens of times per mission. But it accommodates for this by making that reload really quick; the game wouldn't work if it was even a 10 second load when you wanted to try again.

i mean, you can do both. 30 vit is a big deal, though. there are still guides on this site that tell people not to level it and it's the worst advice you can give.

I guess that's just where I diverge from a lot of folks, and maybe it's just the way my personality is, but in situations like that I tend less towards "this is fun and I'm gradually putting everything together" (though I do find myself getting a bit better each time) and more "this is tedious and I'm not moving forward or having fun"
