I can't take articles like this seriously anymore because they don't report the news, instead focusing on "gotcha" moments by painstakingly monitoring every public statement a person makes until they can find the one that makes an interesting headline.

It's not at all shocking for 1) someone to point out that Americans by and large have absolutely terrible diets and this is a concern, and 2) for the CEO of Gimmick Health Food Inc to say we need more health foods

As some one who works there, I can say Whole Foods is pretty gross, but I think that describes ~100% of corporations.

I wonder if health related tax incentives would ever be able to get through legislature. If you gave people tax breaks for being healthy, maybe some people would be more motivated to stay in shape? Idk.

I knew a person who was hardcore into that. Said doctors were a scam industry and that just by eating right and taking supplements you shouldn't need to see a doctor. There wasn't an ailment in existence they didn't have some nutrition-based quack explanation for. <_<

That's not to say nutrition doesn't play a role in health. But the mindset these people live in borders on some sort of bizarre, anti-medicine cult.

Ever since Amazon took over they have been going downhill. I used to do most of my grocery shopping there, but they kept discontinuing the items I wanted. I now do the majority of my shopping at Costco and make more things from scratch.

I've been saying for a while now this is why the fire department is accepted and UHC isn't: you're ingrained since conscious thought to try to not need the fire department, yet cue the replies from people that don't want to admit many of the the health problems they want treated could be avoided entirely with proper self care such as diet and exercise. Some people don't want to be healthy, but don't want to accept the costs that come with it, or how time and energy spent on avoidable problems means unpreventable ones can get stuck waiting or the excessive demand becomes an excuse to jack up the price.

To be fair you could eat healthy without stepping foot into a Whole Foods. In fact most people dont have access to Whole Foods because they dont build them anywhere around poor neighborhoods.
