Drivers see just the total base pay + tip. We dont get a breakdown.

If we see $3 orders then we know there is no tip, so those are pretty much an instant decline. A $8 tip order would have been at least $11.

Doordash goes either way, you can tip before or after. Why anyone tips before is beyond me, it's utterly idiotic. That's when you get bitches like this.

I had an Asian delivery guy 2 days ago, scream at me because I didn't tip him cash but did so on the app.

I couldn't believe it.

I had a friend who does Uber told me he prefers tips in cash than in the app so it doesn't get taxed

I've worked for Postmates in the past. It's another delivery service akin to DoorDash. I think $8 is pretty generous. $5 tips or less was pretty much the norm when I was doing it about 2 years ago.

I tip when I can for certain services (not every single one that accepts tips though, fuck that), but really tipping culture needs to disappear completely and businesses need to pay employees better. One of the dumbest, most antiquated things that's so popular in this country.

Im confused about how people are defending this. Im pretty sure how DoorDash works is that you see the restaurant and the distance to the home and you accept it or decline it. I think you can see the tips too before accepting. It is kinda like accepting a job at a guild you see in video games or TV shows. You cant accept the job and conditions then bitch about the pay if it was presented ahead of time.

If Im wrong please correct me. Im not stating this as fact. I think that is what I heard though

It's capped & hidden over a certain amount, usually $8, if the tip ends up higher it will say at the end that you earned more than what was shown, unless you have an andriod with the older app, which is the smart way to do it to actually make any $.

So you are a fool for accepting anything lower than $8 in the first place, encouraging non tippers & the app companies giving you awful base pay.

So people or newcomers will take lowball offers, of which is a good 80% of them & getting people to worry about there acceptance rate, which doesn't actually matter, but not everybody knows that.

Top Dasher is a thing on most of these apps (called different names, under diff apps) allowing you to schedule yourself in advance if you take 80% of offers, including all of these lowball $3 offers for a good 6+ miles. It's all a con & a bad thing all round really.

So even though this guy tipped $8 which is actually decent, she ends up making nothing really, after that distance + time it took. Not sticking up for her though, it's her fault, she needs to wisen up & is blaming the wrong person for starters.

Yes they do... Total price and total distance are listed directly on the offer page. It's the first thing I look at every time I get an order.

$8 is a solid tip. I get plenty of orders that pay $20+ in a week though too so don't act like an $8 tip is that good. It's good, but not great. Still, it's good enough to deliver and not complain.
