Should I just pay the walmart guys like 80 bucks to do it? I've never even used a drill, so idk if the risk of messing up is worth it

Not very hard. Id second watching a tutorial.

Trusting Wal-Mart employees to do it sounds like a bad idea.

Also 80 bucks is ridiculous. I could make 320 bucks a day working half days if I could get a job just mounting the.

Its hard if youre doing it by yourself. If you force corn to do most of the hard labor than it wont be too bad

Dont pay someone else to do it

well if you've never used a drill it might be hard.

ive mounted a bunch of tvs/displays at my house. compared to other DIY projects ive done, it wasn't that hard.

just find the studs, attach the hanging plate to it, then attach the hooking parts into the tv and connect them.

oh yeah and then OBSESS FOR WEEKS ON IF ITS LEVEL OR NOT

but uh, 80 bucks is not a bad price if its like a big TV or you have no idea where your studs are.

but dont buy a mount from best buy or target whatever. they're all like 90 bucks when on amazon you can get a really good one for 20-30.

Putting it up aint hard. Putting it up so it doesnt look like shit apparently is. Walmart isnt going to hide the wires, etc. Theyre going to stick it to the wall and bounce. I wouldnt pay $80 for that.

Proper way to do it:
  1. Use a stud detector to find at least two studs.
  2. Place a template on the wall that overlaps the holes on the wall mount and the studs. Use a laser level to make sure its straight.
  3. Drill a hole through the wall and the stud that is 1 size smaller than the screw youre going to use to mount the wall mount.
  4. Use an impact drill to screw in the screw through the holes you just made, to mount the wall mount.

You can get away with not using a stud detector if you want to just knock on the drywall to listen for the stud (along with basic knowledge that studs are generally every 16/24 inches from each other). You can get away with not using a laser level if you have a basic bubble level. You can get away with not pre-drilling a hole prior to inserting a screw and not using an impact drill if you trust the screws strength.

I have a few pictures hanging up specifically to cover up holes I drilled incorrectly while trying to mount one in our bedroom lol

Ended up rearranging the room like a year later anyway so mounting the TV in that spot would've been bad in the long run

Hmm ok, yeah I dont have much DIY experience but ive built ikea furniture lol (no drill involved though)

It probably will be pretty big (looking at 65'), and I've never found studs before easier. I know there are tools that detect them, but you can also knock and listen for them right?

Oh do you have a mount off Amazon you could reccommend?

Its even easier. You dont need to look for studs; instead you just use concrete rated screws and just dive right in.

This job, with proper tools, should take no more than 15 minutes. Cable management will take longer.

Hammer drill and tap con screws or insets and regular screws. Or really good adhesive if you don't plan on taking it down.

If you ever plan to be a homeowner (or already are a homeowner), go buy yourself a drill/impact drill set. Buy a Ryobi set for like $90 and youre golden. I like Ryobi because theyre the perfect balance of quality vs price vs availability for a homeowner and light-pro use.

If you dont care about money though and want the best quality, go with Bosch or Milwaukee.

Makes sense

I'd just stick to a floor support.. Cable management looks annoying to deal with

Eh mikita and even Dewalt are still better than Milwaukee ino.

Milwaukee drills are annoying cause there's no real control with the trigger They all go from zero to full power like instantly.

Hmm you're the only one saying not to do it ourselves, but it is only $80. He does constantly have his back out anyway tbh

anyway theres this really pretty irish lady in charge of performance testing for our product and she's really nice and whenever I hear her voice in meetings it makes me feel happy :)

Think about it though
Would you rather hear a doctor say 'boyfriend back no worky' or hear 'top 'o the morning, we sure can fix ye right up'?
