Flat earth was a gateway into this Republican shitshow. By questioning something that we know as fact over centuries of scientific advancement, and by scapegoating the government as an entity that would fake an entire continent and US territory, it set the stage for the same gullible idiots to start buying into that qanon bullshit. When you start believing shit like Guam and Australia not being real, then I don't think it's much of a stone's throw to qanon shit.

I don't miss flat earthers at all, because it should have never been a thing to begin with.

Were they really? In hindsight it all looks more like a trial run practicing ways of getting people to believe unadulterated bullshit so they can be conditioned into supporting things like overthrowing democracy and a violent coup against the government.

My main problem with flat earth arguments is something so simple its laughable.
Every other planet is observable round.
The sun, the moon, the other planets.
And they require no special equipment, just the naked eye.

So why is earth the only flat one?

earth is not shooting upwards, seasons come and go so they don't generally stay in one place like the wind or weather floats around as different parts of the disc rotate where the sun hits
