It was cool seeing Kathryn Hahn and Debra Jo Rupp (the mom from That 70s Show) in the first episode. It was definitely a fun watch, but Im not sure the added wrinkle of them being superheroes will be enough to allow me to endure the old-school, Threes Company-esque plot is structured around an easily avoidable misunderstanding gimmick. It does seem that theres more going on though, so lets hope whatever it is develops quickly.

Do you mean subconsciously or consciously? Because the news may have had an effect on me subconsciously but it certainly wasnt at the forefront of my mind while watching the episode. I just heard the voice and thought wow that sounds like Chris Evans.

It was only hard to tell for sure because of the static/interference.

So I think I've figured it out...maybe I'm thinking that this new organization SWORD, is trying to keep Wanda's powers suppressed by putting her mind into this fake reality. All of the characters in the "sitcom" are agents of SWORD, including Agnes who HAS to be Agatha Harkness (Agatha Harkness) who is likely the one using her powers to create this reality for Wanda, since she's her mentor and eventual victim in the comics. I'm guessing whoever is calling her (it really does sound like Cap) is trying to help break her free, but Wanda chooses to remain in this false reality. My hunch is that Doctor Strange might be heading all of this, and this might actually be a spin on the Planet Hulk storyline where Dr. Strange and the rest of the Illuminati shipped off Hulk to another planet to protect the Earth. It also sounds a lot like a thing that Doctor Strange (even MCU Strange) would do. It would also make sense why she'd appear in Multiverse of Madness....she could be the actual antagonist, or Nightmare (who's been rumored for that movie) could be using her to drain her subconscious energy.

Monica Rambeau could also be an agent of SWORD who has a change of heart and tries to free Wanda from this fake reality. This could all lead to a meltdown where Wanda loves this fake reality so much that she tries to change actual reality to fit it.

I guess I am intrigued to see what happens but it didn't fully grab me. I am open to Marvel trying new things which this show did. Will reserve judgement until all episodes are out

you know, i think i've completely flipped my expectations for this story

speculative thoughts, inspired by some of the comic storylines, plus some older MCU + WV spoilers:

i had been thinking that Wanda had her psychotic break off-screen, just before the show picks up. grief over vision catches up to her, and she has the power to fix it. so she does, in the least healthy way possible, creating an entirely new reality for herself.

but after seeing the first two episodes: i think this is being done to her, to prevent just such a scenario from actually altering reality for everyone else. basically, an escalation of her getting grounded at the beginning of CW. and the reality-altering break will actually happen in the finale, when she's one again forced to deal with vision's death.

Definitely could be that or it could be part of her guise to act like a regular person within this reality. Could also be a deceptive trailer shot since Marvel Studios loves those.

Not a great start, and I dont like that they put the opening credits at the end and beginning. The actual show is only like 20 minutes because of that.

@RchHomieQuanChi I went on IMDB to confirm where I knew a certain actor from the show from, and accidentally most likely confirmed at least a small portion of your theory. But I think in doing so I also disproved most of it.

I think releasing the episodes weekly was the wrong decision for this particular show.

i will defend one day drops until the end of time. weekly drops are a relic, and need to die.

but, who can i suggest a compromise to? how about one episode a day? or maybe even MWF? it gives the people who want time to talk and dissect some time, but not so much that the rest of us get so bored waiting.
