tbf, if I played it fresh right now, I probably wouldn't like it.

Not a fan of musou games because of how dry and monotonous it gets gameplay wise. The only thing that will get me engaged in this game is if the story is at least interesting.

Persona 5 Strikers does things differently than other Omega Force-developed third-party games, with Joker and his Phantom Thieves sneaking their way through colorful metaversal dungeons avoiding or ambushing wandering enemies, much like they did in the original game. The major difference here is that engaging with enemies launches the gang into real-time action-RPG combat against dozens of enemies, as opposed to Persona 5s turn-based battles against small groups.

Though these large-scale encounters might feel a bit like the historical fantasy battles of Dynasty Warriors, theyre much more contained and strategic. Enemies have elemental weaknesses that must be exploited in order to activate powerful all-out attacks. All four characters in your party have different special skills and fighting styles, so knowing when to tag which characters in and out is important. Certain battles take place in areas with environmental objects that can be exploited, like scaffolding you can drop on enemies. Its a far cry from the button-smashing hack-n-slash of the Warriors games.

Still waiting for reviews or a price drop to 30 or so before jumping in. Hyrule Warriors burned me enough for these types of crossover games honestly. And I refuse to buy the new one because of it.

I'm super excited for this. I really like warriors games that aren't dynasty warriors. Hyrule warriors was great. What we really need thought is a new Gundam warriors game. At least that made sense destroying hordes of Zakus in space.
