They have evolved to eat something that gives almost NO nutritional value. It's something that's happened throughout history, and no matter how perfect our efforts may be, it will continue to happen in the future. Of course, we should avoid actively contributing to it, and interfering in the case of species important to us (eg. bees) is worthwhile; but yeah - pandas, let nature take its course. Put eucalyptus leaves on the ground in front of them and they don't know what to do with them because they're not in a tree They're poorly equipped for their diet. Their teeth are worn down from their diet, which isn't too uncommon in the animal kingdom. However, animals like rats have teeth that keep growing to combat this. What happens with koalas? When their teeth are ground down they starve to death. They spread fucking chlamydia. They sleep 20 hours a day.
