Alcohol has many of the impacts of drugs, but we've also fairly cemented alcohol abuse as a bad thing to be avoided. We're still getting there on drug usage, as such people still see their use as a waste of a life until you're begging on the streets and creating crime and other social costs. --- I'm not saying that less toxic gaming journalists would lead to less toxic gamers.
