apple puts imessage on all their phones. android phones are made by different companies and so they don't just have one messaging app for all of them. So you can either text normal SMS and MMS or you can choose a messenger app.

That said, I think it doesn't matter it isn't standardized because android has far more benefits IMO

its kinda funny to me cos at the end of the day for me a phone is primary to communicate/message people really

sucks that I have to use messenger cos most of my friends have android phones

For me my phone is equal parts of these:

-phoning and texting
-browsing the web when I'm not at home
-playing videos/audiobooks/audio while I'm exercising/shopping/cleaning/driving/whatever
-accessory applications like reminders and alarms, and apps for fun like pokemon go
-automation
-camera

I don't really care if I don't get to see the text bubble appear when the person is starting to reply. I don't use any messenger apps, just MMS and SMS, and the only thing I really don't like about it is that I can't send large video files directly to other people.

Just switched to iPhone after like a decade of Android and yeah iMessage is pretty damn awesome.

I also like how smooth all the apps are. Even Google Chrome runs better than it did on Android.

There have been a few occasions where my comment about getting a new phone has been met with "You should get an iPhone so we can iMessage" but never gotten an actual answer to "What's so great about that?" The uncompressed pics/vids in messages is the only real attractive benefit I've heard about. All my friends I keep in touch with are through texts or Messenger, and if I cared enough it'd be quick and easy to sync those together.

You can text on WiFi which is pretty cool

Couldn't give less of a fuck about iMessage as it has zero functionality that I want and don't already have, or whatever Android app is trending. Never used WhatsApp in the decade of having Android.

I actually wonder why apple doesnt just make a google store version
