2 weeks ago, sent a box from my parents home in Tucson to my apartment in New York with winter jacket, gloves, some thermal running gear

last monday, it was brought back to the post office for redelivery pending address verification

i go to the local USPS, the package isnt there, they say it most likely was shipped back to sender

i call the USPS customer support today after it still doesnt get back to my parents house, they say it wouldnt have shipped back to sender because that would reflect in the tracking and it should be at my local USPS

im never getting my package am i?

and I CANT EVEN RUN OUTSIDE BECAUSE I DONT HAVE MY WARM RUNNING CLOTHES OR MY GLOVES

Ive gotten shit delivered from usps that I sent to myself that actually showed up nine months later.

Luckily I had insured it at what I originally paid for it, and already purchased new.

So, extra stuff I guess. But Im guessing clothes werent worth insuring.

Don't trust any carrier with things you can't risk losing. Anything can go wrong for any reason.

You can use socks for gloves

I just recently started working at the usps.

Your package probably got misdelivered to your neighbor, and your neighbor decided to keep it.

Through the holidays, volume is fucking insane at the post office. Thanks to Christmas and the extra volume from covid, everyone does all their shopping online and we get to deliver the brunt of it, WITH mail (yay).

I've got packages stuffed in my vehicle, falling in my lap and hitting me in the back of my head.

It's both of those. Covid craze has caused more people to order online than ever, AND holidays are terrible anyway.

On top of that we just don't have the people. Mail plant capacity has been cut due to covid, and people aren't lining up to be mail carriers these days.

Understaffed and overworked=more mistakes. But hey, I'm not complaining cause I was pulling 1200$ a week through Christmas, IN MY POCKET, which is damn good money for someone used to poverty. I felt like a rich man.

It wouldnt tell you it was misdelivered. We don't like to advertise when that happens lol. It would say it was delivered, which it was, just at the wrong house lol. If it's not saying it was delivered, then it's probably lost somewhere. Who knows where at this point, or it could just show up tomorrow.

Misdelivery is easily preventable, but also easy to do.
