In the video, Contreras can be seen letting himself into the home after he is told by someone inside to "come on in." Contreras quickly exits after Warren begins to yell and advance towards him.
Warren can be seen outside a residence advancing toward the officer in the front yard and ignoring verbal commands for him to lie down. After the officer steps backward and continues to issue warnings, like "You're gonna get tased," he uses his taser.
Warren initially falls down but then stands back up and continues to push toward the officer. Contreras uses the taser again, but Warren keeps advancing and Contreras deploys his firearm.

There was something wrong. The dude didnt even have a weapon.

So i've seen the excuses when people claim the guy had a knife or a gun. Now the guy simply walked towards him. Cops cant do shit in america. Shoot first ask questions later

As someone who has had cops show up for a mental health check, they sure as fuck dont make you feel any safer.

EDIT: I was living alone at the time, and lets just say I was in the middle of something very private.

Pretty sure the cops thought I had a gun or something poking out from my hoodie when I answered the door.

I'm not excusing the cop. He could have handled this better and not killed a man. As people as saying he could have got in the car or not engaged.

Just know that "Well he doesn't have a weapon so who cares what he does?" is flawed reasoning

Well the video says they initially called for a social worker but for unknown reasons Dispatch changed it to an armed cop instead.

Anyway it's true that the cop could have retreated. Combination of cowardness, idiocy and thinking cops always have to stand their ground led to a murder of a confused mentally ill person that didn't need to die

Or have a social worker accompany the cop. Canceling the social worker was a really stupid move in this case.

Yeah that sounds like a good practice, beat the shit out of people for being concerned about someone's well being and not having any other option to ensure their safety

Cop had one way to ensure his safety. He could have run away. He didn't have to kill the guy

Once the cop was in that specific situation, you can't really blame him, but there should be better systems in place so the cop isn't in that situation. Why is a single officer responding? Why don't they come equipped with something for restraining someone who is mentally ill but otherwise unarmed? It's fine to be prepared for the worst in case it's someone who wants to go suicide by cop, but otherwise they should be equipped and prepared to restrain someone who is going to physically resist and lacks the mental capacity to respond to commands.
