This is why I bought 200 shares and sold a $7 call. If it shoots up I still have the 100 other shares.

I bought one $3 call for $36 a couple weeks back BY ACCIDENT cuz it was supposed to be a sell. So, thats good at least

So are capital gains taxes due end of year, or do y'all do estimated payments to the IRS quarterly, that's a specific that I am not clear on and want to clarify as i get bigger profits

I don't understand how this all works. So the hedge fund will be forced to buy more stocks on Friday and they will try to short those again making the cycle continue?

How much did you buy it for?

16$ per share, sold it around 38$ when there was no action for a bit, bought back in when it dipped back down to 38$ and held since. Sitting on about 214 shares or so

In order to close their position they need to buy more shares than are currently available. As they purchase shares it creates demand and the price continues to spike, especially with the army of wsb holding and not selling the entire time.

This price increase drastically increases the amount of collateral they need to maintain in order to not get everything called back by their broker. Eventually it will be too much risk for the broker and they'll start forcing the liquidating their positions to get their money back.

Basically they're fucked unless SEC steps in or something else external.

Etrade and TD Ameritrade allow trades on those stocks but you have to pay commission for it, at least for TD. Its like $7 per trade iirc

If a hedge fund shorting a stock can put out a presentation and video about why a company is bad, why cant random people talking to each other on the internet talk about why a company is good?

Makes sense to me, so Im not sure there is really a possibility of the SEC stepping in. At some point this whole bubble will burst, and many folks will be left holding pretty substantial losses on an essentially unrecoverable asset.

Thats all part of the game though. Play at your own risk, on whatever side you take.
