Would you rather live in California or Texas?

Brett Alder, a director of semiconductor business development at Japanese firm, Hamamatsu is a father of 7 who moved his family from San Diego to Texas and then moving BACK to california after writing a a SCATHING op-ed complaining the people there were RUDE and it had oppressive heat worse than California and the rain and bland culture of Austin was enough for him to move his family back to California!!

That caused outrage as people are now calling him "entitled" and a "douche" for writing about his relocation and complaining that the state was too CONSERVATIVE!!

He joined the nearly 700,000 Californians who left the state to move ot Texas in the last 10 years

But Alder said "I'm not a hater, it was a detox that could also serve to help other people from CA. I left Austi 5 years ago. Been in San Jose since, but am now mulling a move to Reno, NV. I grew up in Gardnerville thinking that area was just normal, nothing special, but you move to other parts of the country and come back and realize 1) the weather is worse than the Bay but it's better than Seattle, Phoenix, Austin..Dry air is more comfortable and the temps aren't extreme. 2)My experience is that it has kind of a combo of CA admixture culture and Nevada rural decency. I took that for granted. 3)Reno is within driving distance of pretty much all of CA. That's a huge deal. 5 hours from beach 45 mins from Tahoe. 4) i think it will be legit cheaper than the Bay. Austin kind of looks cheap but isn't"

He also responded to now being the new KAREN as his criticism of the lone star state was branded to him for hating texas.

Brett said Texas has lower income taxes but it was a "conservative dystopia" and felt cramped with smaller houses

He also slammed the state's bad driving, lame car washes, cost of living, monoculture and micro-managed military academy in its schools.

They only stayed a YEAR there before moving back to the west but twitter users were none too happy about the slam and called him a hypocrite and condescending and insulting article about the state

The op-ed was made as thousands are leaving California, New York and other high cost states for lower cost of living states like Texas and Arizona as work from home policies allowed people ot seek greener pastures

Austin ranked the #1 destination of 10 big big cities that gained the most newcomers as for every one person that moved out of Texas, 1.53 move in..

It's the people like him that leave Cali and move to Texas and keep their dumb democrat voting ways(that ruined cali in the first place) and are slowly trying to destroy Texas. Wish more of them would go back to the state they ruined.

And not for nothing, but he was in Austin. Imagine if he'd gone to an actually conservative part of the state? XD

I don't get the bizarre hate-boner that people have for California, unless they believe what Tucker Carlson has to say about it being a 3rd world hell-hole. California is large and diverse. You are going to find different opportunities in different places. Just the same as Texas. But both of them are powerhouse states with amazing music scenes, so I'd be happy in either. I find it laughable that people like Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro move because they think it's becoming ridden with the homeless. Guess what dildos, it's always been bad in LA, and it isn't so bad in your gated communities. Lend your capital to helping your home. Or jump ship and go somewhere where homelessness is also bad, and will get worse too.

Texas loves to shit on California and encourage the mass exodus from it to them.
But can't take it when someone dishes on them.
What a bunch of snowflakes.

I had considered moving to California at one point, figured with the weather/climate and beaches there my wife would be happy. But the more I looked into the insane taxes, even more insane property costs, the earthquake insurance that has such a high threshold before kicking in at all that you'd be financially ruined even w/ the insurance, etc... It just seemed impossible to make it financially viable. I seriously don't know how California even functions, the economics of their cost of living is utterly insane. Plus they're slowly lurching towards running out of water, and all the other natural disasters like wildfires and mudslides...
I don't think I could ever move to CA.

That being said, the alternative in the poll is literally Texas, so I guess CA wins.

Yaknow how some people say 'if you don't like it, leave'...

The same people are the people doing the slamming.

If you have the money to do so you should move to whatever point on Earth gives you the most advantage.

California is apparently going to be an uninhabitable wasteland by 2100 because of no water (Neil DeGrasse Tyson talked about it somewhere), but that's a long way off and if you go back to what experts said in the 1970s we should've ran out of oil decades ago... so who knows?!

The invention of the 3D seismograph in the late 90s basically 300x the production of the Kern oilfield in California, and probably had similar gains elsewheres.

Anybody who has lived in California for 5 years or more should go though immigration processes if they want to move to any of the states in real America.
