Yes, this is on my mind. Especially since I will likely have to fund the first quarter back 100% on my own. I might take out a loan tbh

It's tough to have both money and time at the same time. I know personally how that song and dance goes, and it prevented me from ever finishing school.

Really sorry to hear you are going through so much. Does your college have any academic advising or counseling that could help you make some decisions?

Taking a break isn't the end of the world, I took three years off in between my undergraduate years. There's a danger of getting comfortable being out of school but it's not an absolute, especially if you have friends who know your plan.

Don't feel bad. I took 3 years of college out of HS and dropped out because I was burnt out, even after being val of my HS senior class. After 2 years off of school, working and living on my own, went back to finish the degree and I was a lot more mature and focused and had a concrete goal of what I wanted to do.

Honestly a lot of people (I'd wager a sizable majority) don't really know what they want to do/be coming out of HS and it's really fucked up to pressure people that young into making life altering financial decisions like taking out huge loans for something they're so unsure about and so inexperienced with being an adult. More people out of HS should be taking a year or two off of school after being in it for 12-13 years and then going to university after living as an adult for a couple of years rather than just going to college and into debt just because "that's what you do"

I always throw the 'no' out just in case - personally as someone with BPD I need to be in a cycle or something.. I sorta know myself a little more than I used to these days and for me sometimes it's much harder to muster back up y'know?

Totally not cliche.. checking if you still had second thoughts about it lol

Do what you think is best for you. My college years I was very depressed at home and also really hated engineering but had crazy controlling abusive parents who made me continue. Id just take the train to school but never go to class. Shop around the mall or something and try and copy assignments off people. I barely passed by some miracle. I wish I could have taken time for some self care.

Are you seeing a therapist? Does the school have any resources for mental health?
