Doubt they'll cut the castle, if anything the island will get cut and frankly that's fine, it's the worst part of the game.

If anything, I feel like they'd cut the island. It would make more sense to cut some of the castle and expand/improve the island though IMO.

But I'm mildly optimistic. RE4 was the cash cow for Capcom for a long-ass time, I expect they're putting substantial resources into a remake.

It sold well but it seems the RE team is still taking the criticisms of that game to heart. That's why they're in main control of RE4 Remake instead of letting the RE3 Remake team be the lead.

I don't think RE4 needs a full-blown remake aside from visual touchups either, but eh. As long as they make it great like RE2 Remake and the original Remake, I don't mind. RE3 Remake wasn't bad, but disappointing.

Oh yeah, I was under the impression you were aware it was a thing. Yeah, the news of the development shift was recent. Originally, the project was gonna try to stick extremely closely to the original after criticisms of RE3 Remake, but the main RE Team saw that and became the lead because they didn't like that approach. They wanted for it to be a different take on RE4.

So eh, at least this means that, like the recent remakes, this won't be replacing the original. It remains to be seen what exactly they're gonna cut, but I imagine nearly all the cheese is gonna be shredded off.

Island and castle have some weird stuff. I love almost all of it but would be okay with them changing stuff to be more thematic. Like in the castle when you go through the shit like the mines or caves or that lava zone it's kinda hard to remember you're actually in a castle. Variety is cool too though so I don't know. The best parts of the island were the creepy science labs and the remote areas like the container fight, wish it had more of that and not the military shit.

I don't think RE4 is a game that really needs a ground up remake though, so as far as I'm concerned I'd almost prefer to see them take risks.

Considering that there's been two remasters already, the remake should definitely change things up.

As long as Mercenaries mode isn't removed and Leon's look isn't changed much then maybe it will be good.

RE4 is way more popular than Code Veronica, so it'll obviously make them more money.

I haven't played 3, but that sounds good. I plan to get 3 when I can get it for under $20. Hopefully I can get it for $9 like RE2
