Fossil fuels don't leave areas uninhabitable for centuries when they do kill people.

They just kill thousands of people every year and make the entire planet less habitable.

Neither does nuclear power when not built with shoddy materials, with corners cut on protocols, construction, personnel management, and when run by incompetents trying their hardest to one-up their international competitors.

And as we all know, corporations don't do any of those things so no reason to worry.

What's the worst that could happen!

Nuclear power is the way to go, and we can't let the opinions of luddites change that.

What do you think of post #5

Because renewables exclusively are a non-starter due to intermittency issues so it'sbasically between nuclear (very safe nowadays btw) and fossil fuels

Sounds like a good argument for socialism to me

Any plan that relies on me trusting the ethics of profit run corporations or a morally bankrupt government isn't a viable plan.

HBO did this documentary drama series called Chernobyl. I'd recommend you watch it. Shows what happens when a prideful socialist country pushes for nuclear power plants.

Spoilers, it didnt end well.

other than wilful negligence (chernobyl) its highly unlikely. and modern facilities prevent those things from happening.

shit, we still have one running here in central cali (though its being decommissioned) and with all the earthquakes and fires its still fine.

its ridiculous we dont have nuclear power.

as long as you dont mind falling into a burning sinkhole i guess. kind of like how you can still live near fukushima or chernobyl as long as you dont mind the slightly higher risk of cancer 40 years down the line, which might actually be safer then living next to a fly ash dump...
