It seems to me that nowadays there are significantly more homeless people living on the streets. I live in Minneapolis and last summer and through fall there were many "tent-cities" in parks all around the metro area.

However, to the pandemic some hotels have been fully rented out by charities to house the homeless. This has led to a large increase of homeless people living in areas and neighborhoods that, until recently, had little or no homeless at all.

There have been some local news articles about the large influx of the homeless population into the suburbs. Many of these articles focus on the concerns of local residents of these communities, such as the rise of crime and drug activity in the area. Though most won't say it, alot of people do not like the increase of homeless panhandling at stoplights and in parking lots of shopping centers.

Not usually, I just walk on by... though sometimes I'm tempted to talk to them about their stories. It's less people flying signs for money here and more people flying signs to get to a warmer area that's not 10k' in elevation when I see them on the highway ramps.

It's ironic.... I worked at the VA and got free boxed meals. I usually took them home and gave it to this veteran bum who lived under a bridge near my house.

No, they are panhandling under a sign the county put up that explicitly says "do not give money to people in the median, if you need help please call XXX for county services"

No money. But if i have some expiring granola bars or chips or somethinh i hand them out at stop lights. Seems like whenever i have tons of food to hand out and readily availavle in my car all the homeless disappear. Thr minute i throw the food away and have nothing to hand out they all come out of the woodwork.

Only time I've ever given money to a homeless person is when a homeless guy basically cornered me while I was pumping gas.

I wouldn't be opposed to buying someone some food though.

Yes, I have given charity at intersections and probably will again. To be fair, I mustve been lucky because they were always polite and grateful, not aggressive. I mean I have met aggressive homeless, even downright rude ones, but they were at other areas and I ignored them.

I remember one time some homeless guy on the train was asking everyone for food or money, I told him that I didn't have any on me. So he asked the guy sitting next to me, the guy offered him a banana and apple. The homeless guy looked at the guy like he was insane then told the guy that he couldn't accept that, shook his head and then asked other people on board for money only >__>

I've often bought them food or bought bus tickets, whichever they say they're needing - the logic being, if that's genuinely what they needed they'll be happy, and if it's not, then it's no big deal that they didn't get the money.

There was one time when one came up to me and said "got a dollar, I'm a bit short to buy some beer". I gave him the dollar because of the sheer honesty.

I've honestly probably seen less than ten in my entire life and I've never once directly interacted with them.

No cuz most of them are either con artists or using it for drugs >_> I've seen them do that shit all the time at my job. The only thing I do is give actual food to them if they legit look homeless

I dont have cash and they generally approach my car. But one time my mom bought food for a homeless man who was asking for cash. He tossed it in the trash and told her to fuck off. So I havent been keen on doing it.

This! And they get all pissed off, too, when you say no to them. That's what makes them even more shady. Also, they all of the sudden get hard on their luck around Thanksgiving and Christmas time.
