Have you seen strongmen lol. Both Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw were huge when they won their titles. They focus on building as much muscle as possible. You need calories to build muscle, and with that fat comes naturally.

You may not like it, but that's what the ideal male body looks like. That is peak performance.

trimming down body fat to get the lean, jacked muscular look also removes lifting power so..

Of course it is.

Thats why strongmen don't look like body builders. Most strongmen don't look like hafthor or pudz. They eat to be strong and gain mass not to look ripped.

But that mass is fat. Wouldn't it benefit them to make that muscle too? Are you telling me Boogie2988 is actually strong as hell because of his mass?

Also why is he holding the bar like that

That's the one thing I miss about being over 300lbs. Never had to do leg days, although it did get to a point where I could barely walk, so maybe i don't miss it that much <_<

it's physically impossible to build that kind of muscle/remove fat while still maintaining the same calorie intake. when people trim down fat(aka the cutting phase) they are at a calorie deficit.

In order lose weight, he would need to reduce calories so that he is burning more than he is consuming. He would lose both muscle and fat in the process.

In terms of raw power, a guy with a somewhat fat build is unavoidable. That body is made for peak power performance, not peak athletic performance.

From what I remember reading fat helps strengthen your back when your lifting heavy weights. It's why you don't see a lot of bodybuilder strongmen. That said, its a balancing act, too much fat will end up straining your back. But their fat isn't the same as your average person who eats fast food all the time. It's healthy fat from eating clean. Not all of them, but a good portion of them.

I'd suggest looking into the Sumo diet, as the majority of their so called "fat" is actually strong muscle.
